22oz bomber (bottle code 054, stands for 13 Feb 2011, drank on 27 Mar 2011) into Duvel tulip. 1 finger beige head of small bubbles lasts a bit then leaves nice patches of foam with some streaks lacing down the glass. Nice clear ruby brown color in the glass is very appealing.
Aroma - Grassy, piney, pineapple, mineral, then a gentle raisin bread aroma.
Taste - Opens a little sweetly malty then fruity hoppy bitterness rises up -- ruby red grapefruit, lemon -- a taste of honey and sweetness, caramel, raisin, and brown sugar. A hint of roastiness on the long gently sweet malty finish is nice.
Moderate carbonation with medium to medium-low body. Not too thin, but quaffable. Very drinkable for the relatively high ABV. Nice job to Lagunitas for a nice job on a relatively affordable bomber!
