Poured from 22oz bomber into a tulip.
Appearance: crystal-clear light orange body with two fingers of pillowy ivory head. There's a pretty good amount of apparent effervescence in this brew as well. Good stuff.
Smell: rich aroma of funky, citrusy hops. There's also a sweet evergreen character which I quite like. This beer smells fresh and enticing; I don't normally like hop-centric aromas as much as yeast-character aromas, but this is quite fantastic.
Taste: smooth malt backbone shows up more in the aftertaste; the real story here is the hops. Big, huge, piney and citrusy hops abound here. I like it a lot, but there's absolutely no balance. Hey, not that I require that, but I feel like this beer could use a little more of it.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a good level of carbonation. This beer isn't super creamy, but it has a nice tingly presence which complements the hop flavors well.
Drinkability: highly tasty and refreshing, this is one huge freakin' badass beer. I'm enjoying this one, but it's a slow sipper.
I might also add that I think this beer is mis-classified as a BSPA. Belgian IPA may be a better category, or maybe even give it the ever-so-vague American Strong Ale appellation.
