Poured a straw color with a slightly thin head that resulted in a spritzy, lacing.
Pineapple/tropical fruits in the nose, well rounded flavor and balance, slight alcohol warmth, with a citrus hopiness. I wish this beer was more available because it really is a great spin on the style. Wonderful and delicious! I'm never disappointed with lagunitas.

A- A crisp, clear, golden-colored body with carbonation bubbles rising from the bottom of the glass. Frothy white head that leaves lacing all over the top of the glass.

S- Crisp hop aromas of pine and citrus, along with some Belgian spice notes.

T- The Belgian spices dominate from beginning to end with a strong hop presence mixed in as well. A musty taste is somewhat noticable towards the end of the taste.

M- Medium bodied, medium-high carbonation. Leaves a sticky aftertaste.

O- Good Belgian IPA. Hops come through nicely to mix in with the Belgian flavors.

Poured from the bottle into a tulip glass.

A real nice thick and uniform off white head, almost creamy, huge retention and staying power with pinhead sized bubbles. Body color is slightly dull, but a real nice orb orange color slightly opaque also. Very slow rising carbonation which is hard to see.

Nose is a great mix of soft citrus fruit, and sweet zest. I get a good kumquat sensation off of this. Big sweet florals as well, almost like a ginger blossom. I really like this nose a lot. It smells very inviting.

Taste is an interesting mix. Milky sweetness body, cream, and matching a nice hop angle hinted from the nose of florals and grass also. Creamy body, with an almost thick egg like consistency. The beer is very dense in the palate, but it's not a boozy rush, until it hits your stomach. Real nice mellow lingering bitterness on this also.

Overall it strangely doesn't really remind me of a Belgian, it's sort of an odd strong ale hoppy beer from another planet, but I guess it does have "some" Belgian character to it, but it really feels like something very unique. Nice job, very memorable.

A: The head is perfect, almost literally. Fantastic retention, nice dynamic between large and small bubbles. There's great lacing and it's a perfect off-white color. The color of the beer is somewhere between caramel and straw yellow. Kind of a golden yellow. It's gorgeous too and has perfect clarity and great action from the carbonation.

S: Oh man this smells good. Big, huge bright hops come out swinging. Huge citrus and some more funky, earthy notes that I'm guessing comes from the Belgian yeast. Some sweet caramelly malts that I can't wait to try. Clean, incredibly inviting aroma.

T: Huge, bold flavors. Not quite as amazing as the aroma and appearance, but it's really good. The first thing I notice is actually a very slight mustiness that turns into the bitter hops citrus. Then it goes to a more fruity sweetness that I'm guessing is from the yeast. Then it turns back to the bitter side and finishes with a little more must and a lot more bitter. Very good!

M: Great mouthfeel, medium body and slick. Good carbonation and easy to drink.

O: I don't remember if I had it last year, but I wasn't prepared for how good this is! I love it! Not the most balanced Belgian IPA (leans more towards an American West Coast IPA) but there's enough of a change to make it really interesting.

This is my review of LSW on draught, to complement my review of the bottled version.

This pours a cloudy hazy gold color with light foam. There’s an intriguing distinctively floral aroma which is contrasted by an unexpected bitterness on the flavor (unexpected from how it smells, not from knowing that it’s a Lagunitas brew). The bitterness almost defines the flavor profile, like a sharp peak around which everything else—the floral notes, the underlying funkiness, and a wheated smoothness—rest. Light, effervescent, interesting.

A- Golden orange, full finger great white head, active bubbles, flawless carbonation

S- Dank tropical fruit, bananas, belgian spice, tiny bit of funk. Sublime.

T- This one doesn't stray far from the nose, if at all. Everything that is intriguing about the aroma translates through to the tongue. If anything, it's a little too sweet, but that is totally in line with the style as it is by no means syrupy.

M- High and dry, lots of carb, clean finish.

O- Yes lagunitas does a lot of hoppy beers. And yes, they do them very, very well.
