Really love the original. Excited to try this variant! Poured into a snifter. Bottle is stating 8.8 ABV, which varies from the value here on BA.

A - An orange-infused ruby hue with a large pale head, two fingers worth. Good lacing.

S - Smells as of a big citrus-hopped IPA. Some ABV warmth is present on the rear of the nose.

T - A light malt backbone with some bready notes throughout. The other notes from the nose are in attendance, although I feel as if I am suckling on a grapefruit when the beer is ice-cold; prolonged bitterness and a dry finish. When it warms, the bitterness evens out a bit.

M - A nice sized medium body with a fair quantity of carbonation. I simply cannot get over the bitterness, yet the mouthfeel is creamy and quite enjoyable as the beer is granted some warmth.

O - A drinkable beer with a "wild" touch. Lagunitas hit the title head on, and while I feel it is inferior to the original, it is a fair change of pace.

Served chilled in a SN pint glass

A - pours a clear golden yellow, lots of quickly-fading head, leaving lots of lacing

S - Citrusy, spicy, the belgian yeast is there but not overpowering

T - again, citrus and hops up front, the belgian yeast follows with a subtle spiciness

M - alcohol is hidden well, clean and refreshing, not too thin

O - a very well-done Belgian IPA, I appreciate the subtleness of the belgian yeast. I would have this again.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a mason jar.

A: pours a bh e hazy orangey/golden with about half a finger of white head that dissapates quickly an leavs some spots of lacing.

S: citrusy hop deliciousness, orange/pinneapple along Witt a touch of pine and a faint whiff of Belgian spicyness.... The yeast comes out more and more as the beer warms.

T: nice citus hop notes blended with a good dose of Belgian yeast flavors, particulary bannana with a clove accent.... From the nose I was hoping the Belgian yeast would be a bit more subdued as I am not a huge Belgian fan.... The yeast works very nicley with the citrusness and dose not overwhelm but personally I wish the hops where a touch more forward.

M: medium body with medium carbonation. A bit of a Belgian spice/ bitter aftertaste.

O: a good Belgian IPA much better then most in this style which tend to be Belgian yeast bombs IMO, but still I wish the yeast was a little more subdued.... Nicley rounded and drinkable, I'm sure if you enjoy Belgian IPA you would love this one.

Smells like a pine tree from a foot away - a nice change of pace to a traditional IPA. Pours brown with some ruby. Excellent lacing on the glass. Flavor has some caramel on top of the pine. Maybe some parsley and other spices. The more I drink it the more I think it's somewhere between an IPA and a saison.
