Grabbed this "Limited Release" as I didn't recognize it off the local shelves. Had some good luck with Lagunitas special release brews, so I felt like this was worth the risk.
A: Foggy orange hue body with some pulpy orange juice looks. Frothy two-finger foam that leaves misshaped tiles for lacing. The body is noticeably luminous in the light, think orange lava lamp. Healthy silty foams remain over the top of this beer. Looks very fresh and in good condition.
S: bit of overly ripe banana, sugary booze that his in a juxtaposition that's less rum like, and more like an alcohol with sugar crystals added. The nose is soggy cracker sweet with lots of forward cereal grains making me think sugary breakfast. persimmon like smells that I am a bit surprised to note.
T: Sugary forward taste of darker nougat brittles with a cereal grain sweetness popping off of big booze. The alcohol is certainly a big part of the flavor, but it seems like a tad bit of a conflict. Some lightly cracker/bread yeast character that augments sugary breads into nutty brittle tastes. Some off banana tastes that linger behind the checks mix glazed sweet grains.
M: lighter mouth than I'd like, the bubbles are lost in the feels behind a very smoothing oily alcohol. This would be the weaker spot of the beer for me, but it's not terrible. It's not a flat beer, but the alcohol really dominates the feels in a way that hurts the overall experience.
O: Flavor is actually quite good, but the overall drinking experience is pretty messy. I think the mouth feel plays a bit of trickery in coaxing my mind to think nutty brittles, as the combination of the yeast taste plus the feels automatically makes me think sugary toffee peanut brittle. If you like a boozier wheat beer, then this one really wears a thick alcoholic fur coat. However, there's a lot of flavor here, and I wish the alcohol was a bit more subdued so that it could shine even more.

From my tasting notes: The Lagunitas version was a much lighter cloudy orange color. There were lots of bananas and cloves in the aroma and my first taste was amazing. I really love this style. Despite the light color the taste was very full and heavy on the caramel malt, banana, and wheat with lots of complexity that hid its high alcohol content well. I thought this was a fantastic beer and Lagunitas treated the style with respect.
