Pours medium cloudy orange with a good chunky cream colored head and no lace. Nice head and good color.

This is a boozy one. Alcohol up front, with tropical fruit and some spice (maybe some clove), some sweet wheat in the nose. Alcohol gets in the way a bit, but it fits the style.

Hoping for a bit more toastiness in the wheat, but it still works. Boozy, bu good firm wheat and yeast flavors, a touch of fruit, some mild bitterness, and a little nutty edge. Sweet, booze, light bitter all work well.

Medium bodied. a bit of a surprise. A bit more body than expected.

I liked this, although it needs to calm down a touch. Not horribly complex, but the Bavarian yeast works, and it brings out the fruit and enough complexities. Worth a try.

A lovely cloudy golden amber in the Duvel tulip. Fine lacing and a wonderful mouthfeel. Creamy and rich like the German versions. Maybe a little too crazy with the clove and fruit flavors but it helps stand up to the alcohol. Quite boozy in the nose. So fragrant, and every sip renews the smell. Really spicy.

Sensational powerful sipping beer without the hop overdose of some Imperial monsters. Not as sweet as a barleywine. So I call it a very drinkable and interesting stong ale. I haven't seen this before so I'll try to remember where I got it and stock up. One of my favorites of 2011.

Murky, golden body. Thick, light tan head builds a dense cover and then dissipates, leaving nothing.

Classic aromas of cloves, bananas and bubble gum. Wheat grains in the background.

Spicey clove and banana sweetness. Creamy wheat and then a big bite of alcohol. Spicey and tongue burning. Leaves a fusel taste in the mouth.

I have had two completely different experiences with this beer: my first bottle I split with my friend and I thought it was the best example of the style I've ever had. So I bought another bottle for myself (and to review) and felt like I was getting my ass kicked by the alcohol flavors. I'm confused as to how this could happen. I'm hoping I somehow got a bad bottle. I'll try one more to figure out what happened.

Bomber obtained at local Slaveway, $3.99 (good deal) shared with comrade, poured into wine tumbers 9.29.11.

One finger white head, relatively quick dissipation with minimal lacing. Hazy light amber body, couldn't detect any rising carbonation due to opaque quality. Good dose of clove and banana in the nose, floral hops. Taste mirrors nose, more clove than banana, hard to detect the relatively high ABV, though taste is a bit muddled, not real clean. Tasty, a pleasant surprise, mouthfeel medium, pretty dry finish. Won't be mistaken for german varieties, but at this price point, certainly worth trying for fans of big Weizen beers.

A new Lagunitas bomber on the shelf is usually a good thing. This one poured a very hazy orange with a light head. The aroma is very light of bread, yeast and a little spice but it may be a bit cold to really get more out of it The taste is of cloves, banana, yeast and malts but with a strong spice that lingers throughout. There is a little bubblegum on the finish and I don't find the 9% really at all. It is a bit different but an enjoyable brew. Pretty drinkable but a bomber is more than enough.

Hazy dark straw color with a small off-white head. Intense aroma of banana/clove/yeast. Similar flavors, with a fresh, tart zing that sets off the complex flavors. Banana, lemon zest and clove dominate the middle, and alcohol creeps in towards the finish. Overall a pungent, tasty beer, but it isn't particularly graceful. The alcohol is too evident in the finish and detracts significantly from what could be a very good beer.

A: hazy orange with a thin line of white bubbles on top

S: wheat, bubblegum, banana, tropical fruit, and a slight sour earthy aroma.

T: a big wheat flavor with some citrus tang. A touch of tropical fruit and hop and maybe some brown sugar. Finish is acerbic, touch of sour, touch of bitter with a little alcohol.

M: Light, silky and good carbonation.

O: Not a bad beer. Not sure if I would have again though. Nice one time beer to try, good all around.

Poured into a tulip shaped glass. Nice head retention over a cloudy amber body. Lace is absent however. Banana bread and candy aroma. Medium body and soft mouthfeel due to the lower than expected carbonation. Spicy front: white pepper, bananas, and cloves. Fair amount of alcohol in the middle and finish with a bit of astringency/acidity on the finish. There's also a fair amount of sugars towards the end.

As with most good beer, the key to this one is to let it warm up a bit. Once I let it get to the 50-55 range, it because much more enjoyable.

Poured picture perfect head and retention. Amber colored hue with visible carbonation although hazy. Aroma of clove, bubblegum and well just plain wheat malt. Flavor had same profile and included a full bodied brew that really took my taste buds on the slowride. Nice beer to share one with a friend. Enjoy!

Pours a bright orange color with a nice white head.

Smells like bananas, cloves, spicy yeast, and cream.

Taste is pretty spicy, some cloves, strong yeast flavors, and creamy sugars. Finish is dry, a bit boozy, tart, and banana like.

Mouthfeel is full, crisp, and a bit prickly.

Overall, this is a good Weizenbock. It's not super drinkable because it's a bit strong, but I like the complex flavors. Kind of surprised by the so so ratings, because this is an interesting tasting brew.

Pours a cloudy golden orange with a bit of white head that recedes quickly and leaves no lace. Bubblegum, slightly sour wheatiness, yeasty flavors, a tiny bit of banana and alcohol in the back. Lingering sweetness. Only very light hints of brown sugar and spice. Medium bodied. Very drinkable and very tasty all around. Could probably use a bit more carbonation, gets a bit flat/watery after sitting for a bit. At 4.40 a bomber this is the way beer was meant to be priced. Thanks Lagunitas :)

Pours a solid, cloudy orange with a fine white head that fades quickly.

Sweet apple, some banana, citrus, slight bready undertones. The aroma is nice but not particularly big.

Up front sweet apple, clove, general spiciness, some lingering bitterness in the finish. Slight bread/biscuit (almost roasty?) in the back...nice flavor. I also pick up a slight phenolic character from the yeast that isn't particularly great through not out of bounds for the style.

Medium bodied, almost syrupy sweet yet dry-ish. I would prefer this to be less sweet and less boozy.

Not a bad stab at the style but not as good as some of the better examples I've had of the style. Less phenol and residual sweetness would do a lot for me.

22oz bottle poured into weizen glass.

A: Pours a lightly cloudy iced-tea amber with citrus highlights. A deliberate rough pour yielded a billowing off-white head that slowly faded into a very dense thick layer of film that lasted the whole beer through. Some streaks of thin lacing were left down the glass.
S: Dominant notes of wheat and lemon. There is a fair amount of chalky yeast and clove as well, with maybe a touch of sweet malt.
T: Full on wheat, lemon and clove with a sweeter maltier finish. I get a hint of ripe banana and brown sugar. Sweet overall but delicious. The aftertaste is full of banana.
M: Medium-thick body, slick and thinnish mouthfeel, with carbonation that I feel could be fuller.
O: Good flavors, but it could be more dense in my mouth. I still really liked it though.

22 ounce bottle - $4.29 at Total Wine & More in Alpharetta, Georgia.

Appearance: Pours a clouded, darkened orange body with a small, short-lived, pure white head.

Smell: Sweet-scented, tangy-accented wheat malts with a generous helping of cloves, mashed-up 'nanas, some wafting traces of alcohol, and even some bitter orange rind.

Taste: Sharply sweet, a bit sugary even (like doughnut glaze), atop some bready, honeyed malts. Twangy wheat flavor, a bit grainy, but quickly the heavily phenolic, clove-like spiciness shoves that noise right oughta the way, which itself is firmly butted up against the warm alcohol giving a drip of 99 Bananas. Some orange peel hints that, like the banana esters pairing with the alcohol, also hits the booze, hinting at Cointreau, soon becoming belly-warming. A drop of vanilla cream. A few Chiclets. Sweetish, fruity finish. Quite heated at the tail end.

Mouthfeel: Medium-plus body. Medium-plus carbonation.

Overall: Not as well-rounded and refined as its German counterparts; it's kind of a slow sipper. Might be one to let sit in the bottle for a bit. Still, it's a decent beer, not great, no, but is available at a comparatively lovely price (God bless ya for it, Lagunitas).

A cloudy dark orange with a nice thick cap of foam and good lacing.

Pineapple hop scent with spice and clove. Some wheat notes, pretty sweet.

Tastes like pineapple bread or cake. Pineapple, wheat and spice. Not getting banana however which is surprising.

Very smooth and a bit chewy. Soft carbonation and medium-full bodied.

A nice beer that doesn't quite reach the style characteristics completely. Pretty tasty and drinkable at a fair price.

Not what I expected from lagunitas, doesn't have their signature taste which for this beer is good but I bought it I'm hopes it would. Looks and smells just like a strong wiess beer. The taste is strong malt, very orange, some clove, a little dark fruit and warm from the yeast and alcohol. Hop presence is perfect I would have likes more but the brew is to style. This is a great fall beer and I would rate it close to perfect if lagunitas killed it with hops but that's just selfish.

This is just a good solid beer. The appearance is very nice with the cloudy gold color. The beer pours a thick head, but I think a lot of that was from me poruing it wrong. The smell has a lot of fruity scents and smells a lot like a New Belgium Trippel. The taste is the best part of this beer. Maybe I am crazy, but this tastes a lot like bubble gum. It is just amazing and I cant exactly think of anything else to describe the flavor. The beer is sort of flat, but it doesnt take away from the beer.

Again Lagunitas knocked one out of the park. They always seem to suprise me at what they can do. Thank God I didn't pass on buying this beer.

Lagunitas' Doppel Weizen poured into my weizen glass. This brew is a nice hazed copper. Things are topped of by an inch worth of bone white head. Head settles to a ring. Spotty lacing is left down the glass.

The aroma is classic weizen. Tons of phenols strike the nose. Banana notes take a strong hold up front. Clove notes seem a bit subdued. Sweet bubblegum laced with a slight touch of alcohol round out the nose.

The taste follows the nose. The strong banana notes in the nose seem to take a bit of a backseat. Spicy clove notes take control up front. Bananas push through mid palate. Bubblegum notes follow suite. The finish is sweet with lingering bubblegum notes tinged with alcohol.

Mouthfeel is full-bodied with an adequate carbonation.

Lagunitas' Doppel Weizen is a tasty enough beer. All the basic notes are there. This brew strikes a bit unrefined. It's rough around the edges. Some cleaning up and this could be a top notch weizenbock. Props to Lagunitas for another tasty brew.

Serving glass: Poured from bottle into Weizen glass.

Appearance: Cloudy but bright orange with billowing foamy white head.

Smell: Massive banana and bubblegum, with some clove, wheat and spicy noble hops.

Taste: Similar to the aroma, with loads of sweet banana and bubblegum, at least at first. Then the hops and clove come in and provide some great balance. Ends with lingering pepper and clove.

Feel: Creamy full body with moderate carbonation. Surprisingly dry finish after the initial sweet onslaught.

Overall: This is a great Weizenbock, and I seriously do not know what is wrong with the reviewers to date. I usually do not like it when Lagunitas steps away from their hoppy comfort zone, but this is incredible.

Poured into a half-liter mug, this beer is a very cloudy orange-amber with a small but persistent head. The nose has just the right fruitiness for a weizen, together with very medicinal phenols: they're certainly emphasizing the weizen more than the bock here, so far.

Pretty good flavor as well. It's really most strong on the clovey phenols, which suffuse it from start to finish. It's highly fruity, and offers lots of wheat malt. Bitterness blends in very well, keeping it from being sweet, but otherwise you don't really notice it. It's a little hot at the finish, giving a hint of the 9% ABV, but otherwise it's pretty light-bodied and spritzy for the strength.

Well-designed beer. I don't think I would particularly seek it out again, but I enjoyed it.

22oz bottle into tulip snifter.

Pours a cloudy orange with light golden edges when held to the light. The head is quite thin, and light tan in color.

The nose is light banana and clove notes.

The taste follows the nose, with slightly sweet banana upfront followed by very faint clove and a solid wheat backing giving it a medium body and closed with nice carbonation.

A pretty simple beer and one I probably won't feel the need to seek out again, but one I still found enjoyable overall.

Served in a Chicago Bears shaker pint glass.

Considering how poorly the team played today, this glass is getting an awful lot of work... Anyway, this brew pours a hazy golden amber topped by about a finger of white foam. The nose comprises freshly-cut grass, white bread, orange peel, banana, light clove, and honey. The taste holds notes of banana, clove, wheat, light rye bread, orange flesh, greens, cucumber, honeydew, and about a half-piece of bubblegum. The body is a light-leaning medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a slightly grainy feel. Overall, though nowhere near bad, the banana is a but much here (as though the fruit was a bit too ripe or something) for things to really pop. Something tells me a couple months of aging might do this guy plenty o' good...

Pours a hazy orange color with off white colored head that doesn't last long. Smells of clove and banana... good amount of carbonation.. nice mouthfeel... tastes just as it smells... banana, clove, a little hop bitterness at the end which is nice. For a 9% abv you can't really tell that it's that strong. I really like this beer... don't know about the other reviewer saying it smells and tastes like ham... I would love to try this one on-tap.

Picked up at the COOP on Friday night... Poured into my Corsendonk goblet (where is my weiss glass??) Decent 3/4" head... little lacing and still there is spotty lacing... the brew is hazed golden orange.

Nose shows big pulpy overripe banana ... lite clove balances slightly in the phenol dept....

Flavor is more in the lite clove and background spice phenol element.. banana comes out swinging with some lite toasty bread points... pink bubblegum meshes with everything on the finish making for a complex yet sorta messy end.

Body is sorta thick even given the style.. needs more than a lite carbonation... decent at best..

This brew shows all the bones of a good brew that was pushed through too quickly.. too sweet with the heavier esters and phenols... the malt sweetness brought them up front too quickly and made them linger.... drier malt profile would help significantly.

I love Lagunitas so any beer they put out I will totally try.

A- A light almost orange like color. Has a big head of foam and a ton of carbonation.

S- Has the smell of a hefewiezen beer. A long lingering spicy flavor. Light orange or citrus smell. Very mild hops and malts.

T- A light orange upfront flavor. A really unique malt balance. Has a very creamy mid palette with a sweet finish.

M- Pretty creamy, has a rather rough drinkability. sweet finish.

Oerall- Not really sure what I think of it. I don't really understand they style so I don't wanna say anything negative. Will try it again once I better understand it.
