On tap at the Birdsall House, Peekskill, NY

Pour clear, a darker shade of almond amber.

Medium tan head, frothy and lasting, and leavingsome fine and high in the glass lacing.

Nose features earthy mint and herbal hops.

Easy drinking, on the balanced side of the IPA world.. Respectable and worth a try, but sorta tame

On tap at The Common Table.

The beer pours an orange-red amber color with an off-white head. The aroma has quite a bit of toffee malt, with some grass and a little bit of pine mixed in. The flavor is more hoppy than the aroma. I get a lot of toffee, plus some orange and pine notes from the hops. There is quite a bit of hop flavor, but the bitterness is pretty low. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

On Tap

Churchill's Pub & Grille
San Marcos, CA

Dark orange, nearly auburn, with a thin white cap that eventually leaves spiderwebs and sheets of lace down the glass.

Nice aroma of citrus hop components, caramel and toffee sweetness, and some biscuit.

This resembles more of an amber than a typical IPA, especially one from Lagunitas. The toffee and caramel sweetness and biscuity malt backbone are prevalent, though there is certainly some piney and citrusy hop flavors present as well.

Medium to full mouthfeel with ample carbonation.

A nice hoppy amber/IPA hybrid. Drinkable, but there's probably always going to be something better on tap.

On tap at Tenaya Creek brewery and Aces & Ales in Las Vegas in May, at Lagunitas in, August I think. The usual tangerine color for some of the Lagunitas hoppy offerings, mild and thin white head on it, .4". Aroma was a big Lagunitas hop blast, although kind of standard for Lagunitas, it was very good, phenomenal coming from anyone else.

An ok body, its a little sweet, some tangerine, maybe apricot. Mellow body, I wouldn't say there is a ton of caramel to it, but it seems to have more of a body than most hoppy offerings from Lagunitas. Its like a fusion of an amber and an ipa hopped primarily with Cascades. Yeast presence is offering something in the way of fruit ester I would guess, as the hops are strangely not all that imposing here, especially when compared with the much lighter Daytime. But still very good nonetheless.

I did notice that the pint I had at Aces & Ales was superior to the one I had at Tenaya, for whatever reason.

Served in a pint glass, on tap.

A - Clear amber with a light khaki half fingered head

S - Some wheatiness with big citrus and floral hop aromatics

T - Refreshing citrus hops with some coriander and wheat flavors throughout.

M - Medium body, with medium carbonation

O - Very solid IPA

On tap at Wine 101.

A - hazy orange with a soft cap of dense, white head that has great retention

S - grapefruit, pineapple, passion fruit

T - bread, birthday cake, grapefruit, pineapple

M - smooth, medium bodied, well carbonated

This was fantastic. The tropical, citrusy aroma and flavor were spot on. The sweet, cake batter-like malt were a perfect compliment to the very forward hops. I could drink this all day long.

A - Pours orange to amber with soapy rings of lacing. Slight carbonation is noted. Clarity is very good.

S - First impression is a citrusy IPA. There is an obvious hop profile that is clearly west coast. Has that telltale pine scent.

T - Taste is less hop foward and more citrusy sweet. Balance is pretty well done. Flavors seem to linger in the mouth.

M - Slick feel, slightly raspy, and medium bodied.

O - I'm indifferent towards this one. It is a solid beer, but other than it toning down the hoppiness for a more citrus-sweet flavor I didn't feel there was much else. Worth trying, but not outstanding.

Draft at Mission Pizza in Fremont. Clear amber with a thin head that disappears quickly. Nice hop nose that brings to mind dried apricots, pine and faint citrus. Moderate caramel sweetness from the malt, too. Palate is good, apricot again pops into my head. It's fairly sweet, with a substantial body, though it's by no means cloying. Becomes a bit resiny toward the finish, though the stonefruit character is pervasive. Yeast lends some mild esters, too, which highlights the fruitiness from the hops. Finishes with a mild hop bite, not terribly bitter or dry. Pretty good overall, an enjoyable hopped up amber ale.

Appearance- Pours a dark copper color with minimal head.

Aroma- Citrus and Pine.. also a slight sweetness

Taste- Just like the nose.. low amount of hop bitterness.

Feel- High carbonation, smooth. A little to carbonated for my
taste

To me this seems like a less hoppy version of their IPA.

I really liked this beer. I had it yesterday at BC's Pizza and Beer during happy hour in a 23 oz chilled glass. It had great head and lacing and I loved the flavor more than anything else about it, ok its mouthfeel was pretty awesome too.

This is a very drinkable IPA, I would say so even for folks who aren't all that into IPAs. Wonderful taste but not too bitter with great hoppiness. Infusion is a good word to describe it, it tastes like some of the best IPAs infused together to make an exceptional beer.

The hoppiness is sort of piney not unlike the hoppiness of a General Sherman IPA, this aspect of the beer could also be smelled before taking a sip. Good nose but I could handle stronger, I like very floral powerful hop smelling beers. I would love to find this in 6 packs. I'll keep lookin.

On-tap at Lagunitas brewery. Notes from SF trip.

A- Copper red pour with a nice white head. Cloud and ring leave ample spotty lacing.

S- Fresh dry hops with orange peel, citrus, peach, floral and general leaf hop notes. Hops all the way.

T- More floral and herbal than the nose. Fresh orange peel is quite nice along with peach. Good caramel backbone.

MF- Moderately carbonated body with a silky creamy feel. Good bitter kick.

Good use of dry hops in another successful hop forward Lagunitas beer.

On-tap 11/19/2011 at Julian’s in Providence, RI, served in a tulip glass.

A: The beer is a deep reddish brown color, with a short off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains floral hops, fruity citrus and caramelized malts.

T: The taste starts out with a strong but not over-powering hops presence. Then a big sweetness comes in from flavors of citrus and caramel. The malt character is hearty and provides a good balance. The after-taste is slightly hoppy and slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and very smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

O: Very tasty, goes down extremely easily, not too filling, good kick, excellent representation of style, it seems like a toned down version of their Lucky 13 Mondo which I liked quite a bit. This is a very nice beer to drink for a whole evening.

On tap at Pizza Port Carlsbad

*Notes from 011/03/11

A: Pours a clear copper color with a small off white head and waves of lace amongst the glass with each sip.

S: Smell is real fruity with fresh hops and quite a floral treat. Bright apricot and peachy aromas. Sweet candied fruits.

T: Taste is of fresh stone fruit flesh. Nectarines and Apricots really. Some slight bready pale malt backing there brings a nice balanced sweetness. But just real fruity with a good amount of dry hopping here. Resinous bitterness. Quite tasty and real refreshing.

M: Real light body with a slightly creamy and slightly sticky texture. Good carbonation with a dryer crisp finish.

D: This was a real nice treat. A real fruity IPA. I have never heard of the Lagunitas Fusion series but this one I found quite enjoyable.

Nice balance.

Would definitely order again.

On-tap at Lagunitas

Pours a golden orange color with a finger of white head. Smells a bit sweet but also quite oxidized (mostly cardboard). Some stale sugar in there too. A faint hop aroma, maybe a bit of citrus peel. The flavor is also quite cardboardy. Sweet sugar and citrus hop notes, but certainly quite...old. Medium bodied with medium carbonation.

Poured on tap and served in a shaker pint, the beer is a bright, slightly hazed, copper-gold coloring, with a fluffy, filmy, clingy, white head. Nose of heavy resin, dank pine, and tart grapefruit forward, with a subtle caramel backbone. Flavors are a blast of pine needles and pitch forward, with a subtle pepper spicing, solid dose of tart citrus, and subtle cracker and caramel backbone. Smooth and crisp body, with a solidly bitter and citrus tart aftertaste. Lemongrass sneaks in there at the end. Dry, crisp, bitter finish. Great beer.

On tap at the local Alehouse.

Pours a bright and clear orange color with a very nice fluffy white head.

Aromas are very nice, and very hop forward. A big blast of mixed citrus, some nectarines, mangos, and sugary oranges, as well as a nice underlying resin note.

Taste is good, but the nose doesn't translate quite as well as I hoped. Light caramel and hard candy sweetness up front while the finish is hoppy, with some light mixed citrus, resin, and slight pine bitterness.

Body is full and smooth, with crisp carbonation.

Overall, a tasty and solid IPA. I just wished the great nose would have translated a little better to the flavor. If it did, this wouldn't have just been very good, it would have been excellent.

Served on draft into imperial pint at Whole Foods. Was surprised to see it available. I am a confessed IPA fiend and Lagunitas is a very hop friendly brewery that rarely disappoints.

Love the copper color and eggshell head. Nice lacing.

Nice warm IPA smell some citrus zest, not overly fragrant however.

Tastes like an IPA should. Hops hit hard with the citrus and the fresh grass and stick to the tongue momentarily before givig way to a smooth finish.

Mouthfeel is crisp as an IPA should be, every taste cleanses.

Solid beer I could turn into and IPA session.

On-tap in Davis. Served in a pint. Reviewed from notes.

A: Served dark amber with a thin head that left great sticky lacing after every sip.
S: Fragrant notes of stanky grassy hops. The nose is very fresh and grassy, and I get a touch of mint as well.
T: Grassy hops and cracked grains dominated with a touch of lemony citrus, no grapefruit, and a honey-esque sweetness. The finish is lightly bitter and grassy.
M: Medium body, low, even carbonation, with a slick mouthfeel.
O: Fresh hoppy taste but this wasn’t very memorable.

A malty IPA-- and what's wrong with that? Another classic big malt beer from Lagunitas, only not as strong as most. Big, loads of hops but modest bitterness. Apricot seems to be the fruit of the malt. Rich and flavorful. Woody, resiny, and whipped with pine boughs. Very nice nose of roast barley and a gardenia fragrance. A touch of caramel. Just enough acidity.

Tastes like the old school aromatic Cascade hops in the mix. One of the better IPAs I've had. Fruity and delicious.

Reviewed on 9/26/11. Thanks to mjyoung for sharing this one.

A - Light tan colored head. Clear, deep amber color.

S - Full citrus and floral hops aroma accompanied by some toasted grain. Pleasant smell overall.

T - Savory almost butter and garlic-like flavors with citrus hops. Lots of herbs and malt flavors added as well.

M - Medium body. A little flat since it was in the growler for awhile.

O - Good mix of flavors, too bad it was flat. But I definitely would love to have this again.

Enjoyed at Flanny’s, poured inside a shaker pint.

Deep, clear sunset orange, capped by a half finger of fuzzy tan head that maintains retention for quite a while. Thick painted walls of lace.

Sweet and dank nose. Tons of sweet guava and papaya in here, mixed with resinous weed, biscuits and caramel.

The flavor’s a little more malty and balanced, which in this case isn't a good thing. The hops that were so bright in the nose are softened here. I still get a little guava, burnt sugar and bread. Clean finish.

Medium body, with just a little more viscosity than I'm used to. Light, prickly carbonation and a tiny bit of silky fizz.

Meh. I wish there was more efficient follow-through from aroma to flavor. Without the nose, it's a standard IPA.

On tap at Churchill's.

A: Burnished golden orange with a finger of white foam.

S: Aromatic orange flesh with balancing bready malt. Floral notes waft from the glass.

T: Orange pith and flesh with tangerine notes and a lower moderate bitterness. Malt is bready and light.

M: Lower medium body with upper moderation.

Overall: A solid maltier IPA. Though, the more I drank this the less I enjoyed it.

A clear iced tea color with a healthy cream colored foam on top and lots of lacing sprawled out on the pint glass walls. The aroma suggests nothing but grapefruit hops with just a wisp of malt. Simple but oh so happy. The taste buds detect more of the grapefruit theme but there is a piney element and even some grassiness. This has mellow grain hidden down deep but the hops dominate despite the obvious drinkability. Medium light bodied with full foamy carbonation and a solid but refreshing feel. I was expecting much less based on previous reviews. This is a sessionable home run!

On tap at Tony’s Darts Away in Burbank, CA.

Pours a clear honey orange with a 1/2 inch foamy tan head that settles to a thin cap. Thin rings of lace form on the glass on the drink down. Smell is of tropical fruit, citrus fruit, and citrus zest. Taste is of citrus fruit (especially orange/tangerine), tropical fruit, and citrus zest on the finish. There is a mild bitterness on the palate after each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer with some nice citrus and tropical aromas and flavors.

Poured from a "growler" (big mason jar) into a smaller Lagunitas mason jar.

A- dark orange with a thin head.

S- wheat, nice hops aromas, very subtle malt profile.

T- wheatiness, hops, guava, tropical fruits.

M- medium amount of carbonation, with a nice medium bodied mouthfeel.

O- I had this beer on tap at the brewpub and thought it tasted much better than out of a growler. Otherwise it is a solid brew and I will be looking forward to having it again.
