Have you been jonesing for something more primal and less evolved? If so, fire is the element for you. Air, water, and earth are of no use. There is a freedom in burning down the house of fixed expectations and it confers an undeniable lightness to being.

Well. It really surprised me. This is a beer I could drink on a daily basis. I'm suppose to be cutting calories and carbs, this is a very good contender for helping my achieve my weight loss. It almost reminds me of a Pilsner but with the lemon and grass hints it's definitely not. Very fizzy with some lacing on the glass.

Solid "session IPA." It's a bit hazy, very yellow and beautfil in the sunlight. Only 1/8" of head after the 1/2" head dissipated rapidly.
Smells pretty great for a light IPA. On the nose you get nice hoppy scent of lemon zest and stone fruits like peaches and maybe pear, etc. Also some light herbal notes.
Taste is not bad for a light beer (under 100 kcals!). This thing actually tastes like an IPA, just very light. All the of same notes of lemon zest and a little funky stone fruit vibe. It's not bitter in terms of hops, but it finishes somewhat bitter and dry, which I love. It makes you want to take another sip.
Mouthfeel as mentioned is light and very dry. You can sip on this or pound 2-3 at the beach before swimming a little and realizing you're not really in that great of shape but just wanted to cool off and pee. Just sayin'...
For me this is a go-to mid-week beer as I try for the 100th time to drink less calories...and it works!
Cheers to Lagunitas for making a great little light IPA.
REVISED RATING HIGHER: Due to the mouthfeel coming off as actually pretty medium which is amazing, and THEN it ends dry. Even better than I first reviewed.

Poured from a cab into a pint glass. Pours yellow orange with a small white head. Smells of grassy hops, touch of citrus. Tastes of grassy citrus, light and refreshing. Beer is light bodied and easy drinking, good carbonation. Overall, a very good beer.

A pleasant surprise for a “light” IPA. Fresh and fruity. Pine and lime smell and taste. It looks good too. Bright clear yellow color with a good initial head and good lacing. Nice crisp feel. Overall a pretty good beer that I would recommend.

Really good for a 98 calorie IPA. There needs to be a separate category for session IPAs since they’re completely different beers.

Clear, pale gold body under a large white head that left good lacing. Lemony aroma touched by tropical fruit. Crisp, clean, citrus hop focused taste. Dry, well carbonated, medium bodied mouthfeel. Great session beer.

One of my favorite session ipa's. Light and crisp with plenty of nice hop characteristics. Flavorful enough to please hard-core ipa lovers yet light enough to crush during the day.

Light tropical nose. Enough hops (Citra and Centennial) to provide a wee bite and flavor. Good carbonation and light as a session ought to be. Refreshing.

I am rating this, but not in the true sense of an IPA.
As a light IPA (Beer) this is excellent and something I will drink again.
It can satisfy your need for the taste of an IPA on occasion without the heavy calories, alcohol or carbs.
Discovering this has now provided me a new light beer to drink if I so desire, which I will.
However, if I am craving a true IPA, this is not in the league of the “greats”, but I am happy to have found it. But if I want my kind of IPA this is not it. But I rated it for what it is supposed to be. Well done Lagunitas!
It is much better than some low ABVs IPAs that due not give you the benefit of essentially preserving a low carb diet.
I almost feel there should be a separate category for light IPAs.

Tastes like an IPA that's been poured into a shoe, or a heavily watered down one

Pours a hazy gold with a thin white cover. Resins and a hint of metallic on the nose, tastes resin, a bit piney with only the slightest hint of a malt backbone. Mouth field is surprisingly north of water at a light medium. Moderate carbonation not bad for 4% IPA. I wouldn’t turn one down at a party.
