A: Daytime pours very light and blonde in color. Looks thin and appears as a Pilsner would with that sort of pale straw-gold hue. Super clear and effervescent with a bit of sudsy pure white head. Minimal retention with some tracked rings of cling.
S: The smell is quite hoppy with pronounced grapefruit peel and gooseberry at the forefront. There are some undertones of grass and light pines. This is pungently hopped. The aroma is by far the best attribute to this beer.
T: Taste is more grapefruit than any other contributing flavor with some supporting notes of bitter melon, peach, gooseberry, floral, and pine. Some definite Citra in use here if I had to make the call but I could be wrong. Perhaps one of the newer strands or blends even. There is a nice moderate-high bitterness with a light touch of some bready Munich-like malts. No causal alcohol flavors as to be expected really. Nice, light, hoppy and refreshing but a bit of a step down from the nose for me. Doesn’t carry all the way through leaving your palate a bit unfulfilled.
M: Body is very light, thin, and watered down without much malt base to stand upon. Has a nice drying crisp of carbonation however finishes wet still.
D: A real nice sessions IPA with some solid hoppiness served up in fractional form. The perfect lawnmower beer if you will. Taste does not quite deliver on what the nose is promising. Efforts seem concentrated more on dry/aroma hops here. Tasty none the less.
Not sure what is with the higher price tag for a sessions brew though.

I think it's a stretch to call this an IPA, even a session one. From the nose and the taste, it's really (IMO) a hybrid of an American pale ale and a German pilsner. Nice light golden color, slightly hazy, with vibrant head. Lots of carbonation. Hop aroma runs the gamut from citrus to tropical to grassy. Definitely not complaints there. Mouthfeel is thin, which is exactly what you want in this type of beer. Taste is heavy on what tastes like pilsner malt, with light grassy/floral hoppiness.
All in all, a solid offering thats super refreshing and perfect for the summer. Certainly worth picking up a six pack, just not quite what I was expecting.
