A - golden, slightly hazy, frothy white head holds good retention and leaves lacing down the glass.
S - gorgeous floral hop aroma, citric, and fruity
T - full flavored, hop forward, grapefruit, lemon, pine, grassy, biscuity
M - overly thin bodied, ample carbonation, finishes semi-bitter but pretty clean
O - scores are all over the place here. Nice accentuation of the hops, but lacks body and a malt backbone. Definitely sessionable with good aroma and flavor, but just give me a real IPA instead of a watered-down hop tea.

Finally got my hands on the 2013 release after numerous samplings of the 2012 batch last summer. Pours a bright gold, somewhat lager-esque in its appearance, with small white head. Very pleasant aroma of pine, citrus, and floral notes. The taste is what really stands out with this beer, and at 4.65% it is deceivingly complex and full flavored, packing plenty of tropical fruit (pineapple, melon), some pine resin, and grassy/herbal notes. Despite not knowing for sure, I would suggest citra is very present in the hop variety used in this beer. Decently hop forward, delivering a subtle, yet pleasantly crisp, hop bitterness. It is light bodied with a malt backbone which is to be expected with a 4.65% IPA, and it is these quaffable and refreshing qualities which make this a pleasant departure from the stronger imperial IPA's I typically seek out. Unlike some session IPA's out there, it is neither watery nor over-carbonated which is pleasing, and what it may purposefully lack in body and to some extent, balance, it makes up for in an abundance or aroma and flavorful character. Lagunitas has really out done themselves here by how they have managed to bring such character and flavor to a sub 5% IPA. Having delved quite a few times into a increasingly saturated session IPA market, this is by far the best of its sub-type for me, outshining Founders All Day by a decent stretch. I highly recommend trying this and I am looking forward to drinking plenty of these during its limited window of availability this year and hopeful for its more permanent status in 2014.

Light, golden yellow body complemented with a thick, chunky white head; sticky lacing adhering to the glass. Very floral scented aroma; musk melon; a touch of pine resin. Light, crisp mouthfeel. Light malt flavors well-balanced with a light yet refreshing hop bitterness.

A really nice, light ABV IPA that packs a lot of subtle taste and hop aroma in a very easy drinking package. More light/session styled beers should pack such palate pleasing character like this. Highly recommended.
