Picked up a single at the end of September from Total Wine for $1.49. Bottle on 9-2-13.

Beer poured a straw golden with a soapy white head.

Nose was classic cat pee, some citrus, and pine.

Taste is citrus and pine that overtakes the pale malts. Finish is rind like.

Mouthfeel is thin.

Overall i like this brew. It tries to emulate the bigger IPA's but that mouthfeel is way too wimpy for me. I am sure it is a fine art to make a small beer this good. Hopefully they can tweak the recipe to make it a bit more fuller...but i realize more malt = more alcohol. Nonetheless this is a good session beer, try it if it is still available.

12 oz. bottle, with no apparent bottled on date present. Yet another beer from Lagunitas' regular line-up that I've yet to try. Picked up a single bottle of this at the local Binny's.

Poured into a Lagunitas mason jar.

A - Pours a nice beautiful golden honeyed lemon color with two fingers of soapy foamy white head. Minimal patchy lacing. Looks very nice.

S - Smell is light, but that is to be expected. Light pine, lemongrass, grapefruit hops, dry crackery malt, and some must.

T - Taste is still got that crisp and fruity hoppiness that embodies most of Lagunitas' beers. Very full-flavored for being such a low abv beer. Grapefruit, lemon zest, lime, oranges, very citrus forward, with just the right amount of bready malt keeping things in check.

M - Feel is light bodied and slightly oily, but finishes quick and clean, with minimal bitterness lingering on the palate. Light bodied with high carbonation.

Overall, this has probably been one of my more favorite examples of the light IPA category. Extremely light and drinkable; I could see this beer pairing well with some summer barbeque. This might make for a good canned option from Lagunitas one day, also.

Lagunitas Day Time Ale ---4/5.

The beer pours a nice foamy white head that dissipates very quickly. The beer itself is a clear gold that appears to be very clean.

The beer has a nice upfront grapefruit hop profile with a hint of malt sweetness. A hint of floral hops as well.

Strong grapefruit bitterness upfront with just a hint of pine resin as well as floral taste. Almost no malt sweetness.

Medium bodied but feels very light and very smooth. Very refreshing aftertaste.

A very good session IPA and worth getting again. I would hope that they would turn this into a yearly instead of just a seasonal.
