The first time I tried this beer was this summer in Manhattan after a company softball game during my summer internship. I really enjoyed it and I was just getting into craft beer at the time. Upon returning to Pittsburgh I wanted to find this, but I was unable to find any Lagunitas when I went back to Penn State. Thankfully, I stumbled upon a few bottles!

A - Pours a very clean, deep golden, dark straw color and adds about 3 fingers worth of foamy, pure white head. Head lasts for a good amount of time before sticking to the very top of the beer. Some moderate feet and lacing around the glass.

S - The smell is one of the greatest points about this beer. It is so deep, so crisp, very pine and citrus forward. It is incredibly refreshing and pushes its hop-filled agenda. Underneath the floral hops, there's a little bit of spice, and only a faint hint of malty sweetness.

T - Taste is faithful to the nose as it is a hop-dominated beer that overwhelms the taste buds with bitterness before finally relinquishing them to a wave of malts, spice, and fruits. Not the most complex of beers, but it really achieves what the nose sets out to do - deliver a blast of hops.

M - Mouthfeel is medium with a certain breadiness that goes well with the head and carbonation. Lots of carbonation can be seen in the glass and are felt in the mouth to get each individual taste bud involved.

D - Drinkability is high. A powerful yet non-overwhelming flavor, crisp nose, and relatively low ABV makes this one go down fast and smooth. One of my favorite IPAs.

I’ve had this many times before, but, having just joined the site, I decided to write a review this time. The beer is dated 6/3/14 (about two months old). It pours a straw yellow that borders on copper under certain lighting. The aroma is pleasant with a subtle citrus characteristic, but predominantly earthy resinous hops. The taste has more citrus than the nose would suggest and is full of orange and lemon zest. The beer finishes with a sturdy, resinous hop bitterness that lingers on the tongue for awhile. It is medium bodied with a modest amount of carbonation, which suits the style well. Overall, a solid beer. At a reasonable price, it is a nice go-to beer.

A very solid IPA for the price. A fashionable beer for those of us on a budget who can't afford the better stuff and won't stand to drink something flavorless.

Had this for the first time after a 5k road race at 8:30 in the morning. Drank a gatorade first (traditional lemon-lime-low sugar) just to give my body a chance to adjust.

Into the red solo cup it went, small manageable head, and delightful hops/citrus flavor. Very thirst quenching and no excessive hops bitterness requiring me to drink slowly. Mmmmm. Yes, beartender, I will have my second. Made the recovery walk back to my car much less painful and it did the hydration I needed.

The best Lagunitas I've ever had is the limited edition Lagunitas Sucks. This stuff far from sucked, but was not far from The Sucks. I will get more at the store.

Found all over Pennsylvania, I'll only go for one if other handles are weak

This beer is widely available, which tends to have a negative impact on the ratings. I will tell you that this beer is excellent. Sierra Nevada Pale is widely available and is one of the best pale ales out there. This is a top 10 IPA. This is my first IPA and I think one of the mount rushmore IPA's that opened the floodgates for this category. What I like best about it is that it is smooth compared to the one sided dominant hop profiles that seem to dominate the landscape to the detriment of the beer. Yes, I love hops but all hops and no balance does not a beer make. Lagunitas is delicious and is one of those rare beers that actually taste better from the bottle than on tap. It is a top 10 IPA. Nuff said.

Sampled on tap at The Taphouse in Red Deer. This is an extremely enjoyable IPA. Light, citrusy, and outdoorsy (if that makes any sense). I found this to be a balanced and refreshing IPA - I would not hesitate to pick up another!

Poured into a plastic cup at a sampling at Hops and Habanas grand opening and soon afterwards into a growler.

A: A clear burnt orange with half finger white head with staying power. Thick lacing around my 3 ounce pour.

S: Grapefruit takes center stage with piney hops and a mild malt presence.

T: A very quaffable IPA with medium bitterness. Piney hops do a tango with grapefruit and other citrus notes. Terrific balance with bready malts. Easy to drink, so I ordered a growler.

M: Light to medium with medium carbonation.

O: I see why this one is so popular. Very sessionable. Nice doggie.

Poures a deep copper with a fluffy head that leaves a light amount of lace, heavy pine aroma with a grapefruit note.Pney, resiny flavors going big on the hops thats for sure not much malt base but some nice flavors. There are better west coast IPA's out there this one seems way out of balance but still decent but wont look for again anytime soon.

Appearance: Light golden orange, with a faint chill haze. Not much of a head, and what there is doesn't stick around long. Prominent lacework as the beer is consumed, however.

Smell: Smells fairly malty. Definite hop presence, of course. These hops are pine-y rather than citrus-y. Faint whiff of...brown sugar, unusual for an IPA.

Taste: Assertively hopped. The first sensation of flavor on the tongue is the floral, piney hop character. The malt peeks out very briefly from behind the hops mid-palate but then sneaks off again to let the hop character reassert itself in the finish. I've had hoppier beers, but rarely have I had a beer where the flavor profile was so thoroughly dominated by hop character from beginning to end, to the exclusion of all other flavors. Whether that's bad or good is up to your personal preferences.

Mouthfeel: Standard for an IPA. Festively carbonated.

Drinkability: Very drinkable. Nothing here to stop you from chugging a bottle or knocking back several in an evening.

Overall: I've had better, I've had worse, its okay.

Pours clear amber, with a white head that leaves some lace on the sides.

Aroma has that Lagunitas feel to it; a little catty and floral with some soft malts around.

The taste has a bright hoppiness to it, again, slightly catty and floral, but it does lack a certain authenticity as far as the hops go. Very wet and quenching, drinking a few shouldn't be a problem.

Lagunitas is predictable in the sense that if you predict it will be good, you'll probably be right. I will take the Pale over the IPA though.
