On Tap

Churchill's Pub & Grille
San Marcos, CA

Clear golden and light amber. Thin near-white head. Irregular lines and spiderwebs of light stick left down the glass.

Citrus zest, floral, light biscuit, and a little sweetness in the aroma. Simple and straightforward. Smells like a mild version of many of Lagunitas's beers.

Not a hugely flavorful beer. Mild citrus zest, floral notes, some biscuit, and mild caramel sweetness combine nicely, but this simply doesn't have a lot of flavor. Unlike many low ABV IPAs brewed these days by the likes of Alpine or Societe, for example, this one tastes particularly light, low in alcohol, and somewhat boring.

Thinner in bodied than preferred, with low-moderate carbonation.

A fairly boring session IPA, though without flaw.

Growler from Kings Park Beer & Soda; pours a hazy gold color with a big 2 finger foamy white head that faded slowly and left good lacing with rings as it went down.

Smells of grapefruit up front, followed by lemon zest, tangerine, coriander, citrus hops, lots of citrus fruit, floral hops, herbs, light spices, mild caramel and light biscuit or malty hints. Almost smells like Sorachi Ace hops add the lemon accents. There are some smells that I could not figure out, but they were secondary to the citrus and grapefruit aroma.

Tastes like it smells with grapefruit up front, followed by lemon zest, tangerine, coriander, citrus hops, orange peel, some other citrus fruit that is hard to distinguish, floral hops, herbs, piney hops, spices like pepper and cinnamon, mild caramel, biscuit, sweet malt and more essence of lemon. It is like drinking a glass of grapefruit juice with zero alcohol showing through. Might be too bitter to session for some, but it's damn tasty and refreshing and I had two pints in less than 20 minutes.

Mouthfeel is light, crisp and zesty with very mild carbonation, a light to medium body and a bitter finish that ends clean and leaves a citrus pucker.

Overall a very good beer that is a really different experience and a really tasty beer; seems like the type if beer to have on tap to maximize the freshness. I recommend this beer and very much enjoyed it.

On tap at 2 Bros. in Salem. Pours a semi hazy light golden color with a 1/4 inch of head. Lots of lacing. The aroma is fruity, with lots of tropical fruits. Pineapple is the one I'm picking up on the most. The taste is juicy tropical fruits upfront with a lightly bitter flavor. A bit floral but this one if mostly tropical fruits and citrus hops. Virtually no alcohol flavor, which isn't surprising considering the abv. Insanely drinkable. Light and creamy mouthfeel. Overall, pretty good low abv Pale Ale with alot of hop flavor.

on-tap @ Belmont Station.
from notes.

Pale golden with a foamy, white head that clings to the glass.

Big, fruity hop notes in the nose. The fruit notes are there as well as a big dose of fresh pine needles.

Medium body, fizzy foamy carbonation.

A very nice pale ale. The pine needle notes were a pleasant surprise, as I didn't pick much up in the nose. I was also very pleasantly surprised with the low ABV for such a aromatic and flavorful beer.

Served in a Lagunitas mason jar at Bigby's Pour House.

Apparently, we're already up to 16... Anyway, this stuff pours a clear sunrise amber topped by a finger of lightly off-white foam. The nose comprises mild grapefruit zest, light flowers, very light honey, and light biscuit. The taste brings in more of the same, along with a touch of light watermelon here or there (or maybe that was just my imagination running away with me (without copyright issues with the Temptations)). The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a fluid feel. Overall, a nice little pale ale, nothing special, but something I could easily drink several jars of while I'm here.

The beer comes in a light golden color.

The aroma has a huge peachy hop with tropical fruit, pineapple, just juicy and a great aroma.

The flavor follows with citrus and tropical fruits and clean biscuit finish. The beer is quite drinkable though not too much on the bitterness.

A decent pale ale.

Look is a unassuming, classic clear gold appearance. Decent head retension with ghost white head, again classic appearance.

Nose is big, fresh squeezed grapefruit, tropical notes, and even other citrus like lime come through.

Taste is immediate bitter flower explosion that finishes quick. Upon swallowing bitterfades and delightful sweet tropical fruit comes out. Fresh pineapple, nectarine, orange, and fresh cut grass just underneath.

Impossibly light body. Really clean and refreshing.

Overall this may be my new favorite out of Lagunitas. Perfect for those who want great hop flavor, but dont want taste buds killed. For any fan of the brewery, this is a must try!

On tap at Westover Beer Garden. Poured into a plastic solo cup.

Interesting but rather fruity and definitely the wrong type of fruitiness for me. I might say that this beer is a hopped up version of a Shock Top.

A - Pours a clear pale golden color with a small white head (low head probably due to the bartenders pour).

S - Slightly sweet, light fruit and a tiny bit of piney resin.

T - Pale malts, orange and some bitterness (bitterness is overwhelmed by the orange so hard to further describe, at least for me).

MF - Light body, dry finish.
