Served in a standard glass at Groveland Tap.
This is a beautiful beer; it pours ebony with a cedar-colored 1" head with good retention. The smell is absolutely repugnant, by stark contrast - somewhere between tonsilitis, bellybutton lint, and unwashed folds. The beer itself tastes good enough; wallopingly hoppy, with notes of sticky molasses and Dry cocoa. It has an astringent, very dry mouthfeel, mostly due to the hops.
It's a decent beer overall, but the atrocious odor is stumping me. Hopefully it's as simple as a badly washed glass or a dirty tap line at the establishment, because i cannot for the life of me imagine how it would be a pleasant aroma to anyone.

Serving glass: Poured from tap into Tulip.
Appearance: Very dark mahogany, near black, with decent light tan head and light lacing rings.
Smell: Typical grapefruity Lagunitas aroma, along with coffee, dark chocolate and molasses.
Taste: Roasted malt base of coffee, chocolate, char and molasses, with sticky sweet and bitter grapefruit, orange and pine notes on top.
Feel: Smooth and creamy body with relatively low carbonation. However, it is a little chalky with a finish that is not quite dry enough.
Overall: This beer tasted exactly the way I expected it to (Lagunitas signature taste and aroma with roasted malts) and that makes me a happy camper.
