A top notch brewery located in Petaluma, CA. They have a mostly outdoor restaurant/beer garden. Inside is a bar and a few tables. Outside is a large area consisting of a lot of picnic tables. It's a fantastic place to sit and enjoy a beer on a beautiful day. The food menu is pretty small, mostly consisting of some appetizers and some panini hot pressed sandwiches. The food was decent. They have about a dozen of their beers on tap. They do pints as well as samplers. I didn't see any quest taps. They also have a store on-site and they do tours periodically throughout the day. A great place to go and enjoy the great beers made by Lagunitas. (645 characters)

Of all the brewery visits and tours that were part of the great Santa Rosa road trip, Lagunitas' welcome was the warmest, and easily the most entertaining. A small crowd showed up for the 3pm tour, but there's no pretension here. They just want to sit you down, whether it's one person or a hundred, and serve you free beer and stories and even a little bullshit (which they'll freely admit.) The atmosphere is relaxed, and employees might galumph up the stairs to join you, mason jar of beer in hand. We didn't get to stay for the whole session, but our tour guide was slinging stories left and right, entertaining the Swedish bridal party, and making sure everybody was having a great time. Free beer, free stories, and great company. Also free. Contrast that with another nameless brewery we tried to visit on the way through San Francisco, which aggressively turned us away, citing lack of reservations and the need for a tour fee. Feh to that! (948 characters)

My wife and I made a special trip out to Petaluma to visit the Lagunitas beer garden after a full day of hiking at the Point Reyes Seashore and had an absolutely lovely time. They offer tours (which we weren't able to take but I've heard are great), but the reason to visit is their beer garden. It's set up family style with a number of picnic tables so you just grab a seat and head up to the bar to order a pint... and you can also order food to your table. The food menu is a bit limited but tasty, and the beer garden is phenomenal. Great selection, with a number of 'brewery only' beers on tap (the bourbon aged imperial cappuccino stout was to die for). I wish we lived next door! (692 characters)

Beer hall type setup with large picnic benches under a giant clear tent. Inside is pretty tight and crowded by the bar. Very communal type of deal.

The beer quality is already known and pretty much speaks for itself (or mumbles). The food is similarly great in quality.

Service is so so, but that's because its pretty much always super crowded and therefore hard to get service. They're very polite and helpful when you can find them.

Selection is fantastic, they have 10-20 lagunitas beers on tap including a handful that you can't get anywhere else, or ones that are extremely rare outside the brewery. When I was there they were just starting to do some of their barrel releases before they ever hit taps or bottles elsewhere. You might get the chance to try something you won't see in stores for awhile, or at all.

Food was great. Very tasty. Very filling. My only problem was my eyes were bigger than my stomach. (921 characters)
