This is my favorite tour in the Bay Are. Make sure you go during the weekday, because that tour includes tastings. Basically, they take you up to their tasting room and tell you great stories while giving you about as much beer as you should drink (large tasters of many of their beers). At the end of the tour, they let you grab a bottle of beer from their bottling line, like Laverne and Shirley (I heard they stopped doing this though).

Its always a great atmosphere and usually there is a live band. The prices are always very reasonable and the beers are great.

Truly great place to hang out. (603 characters)

Awesome brewery full of cool people. Did the tour and got to sample all the different beers, and then as we walked through the bottling section our tour guide improvised and just started grabbing bombers right off the assembly line and handing them to us! Highly recommended if your ever in the San Francisco Area (314 characters)

Love stopping here! The brewery tour is possibly the best I've been on. The guides are hilarious, super chill, and make you feel like family. You get the full entertaining history story and a ton of laughs to go with it, plus a nice sampler. The tap room and beer sanctuary (greatest name ever) always has something new and cool to try in addition to all the standards and seasonals. Friendly staff, great food, and live music round it out. Well worth stopping. (462 characters)

This place was a lot of fun. I visited with a couple of buddies and I really enjoyed the fact that they gave a tour of the brewery. The tour guide was great. He gave you a lot of the story and facts about the company's history. Very entertaining, would recommend this to anyone. (278 characters)

Went to Lagunitas on a Saturday around 3pm and the bar was packed but still plenty of room outside...great atmosphere and a good crowd.
The perfect place to sit outside and enjoy a good beer.
Enjoyed Russian River but it's great to be able to sit outside at lagunitas.
Great deals on merch
Wish I lived closer...

After visiting over 150 breweries in CA and trying even more of the beers offered by Lagunitas, you realize Lagunitas is in the top 5-10. Fun place to visit and great go-to beers that cover a low alcohol session beer to a Hairy Eyeball.....Love Lagunitas (589 characters)

Stopped into the brewery one afternoon while on vacation in Northern California, circa 2011. Unfortunately, we did not do our research and the brewpub was closed on the day we stopped in (I believe it was a Tuesday). However, they had a tour starting in half an hour. "Would you like to join the tour" they said. "Of course" we said. Smart choice. The tour consisted of some very generous (free) pours of just about everything they had on tap that day, along with our guide (bartender) describing the history of the brewery and some of its more well-known brews. Great vibe, and what seemed at first like it might be a bust of a trip turned out to be a great time. I can't describe the food since, well, the were not serving any. Since they were closed. I mentioned that earlier. (790 characters)

My wife and I went here on an anniversary road trip. shes a good beer wife. Although the tour was quick and the tap room closed we decided to try the tour. The tour was not so impressive but what was impressive was the beer as usual but more the story behind Lagunitas that I never knew. The tour guide was great, the old tap room even cooler but the stories where the best. Under Cover Shut Down, High "Astronaut man"!!! A Little Sumpin Sumpin!!! The Waldos!!! Censored AKA: The Kronik!!! Never have I been on a tour that provided some much down to earth, anecdotal, realistic, informative information about the brewery, owner and conception. We spent most of our time in the tap room asking our guide questions which she eagerly answered and provided history. I now have some truths and some myths to share with my friends and now I feel like a part of the tribe. Ill keep making up my own stories about some... (914 characters)

I discovered this limited release offering from Lagunitas in Huntsville, AL of all places at a convenience store/gas station; not the most auspicious location to fine a nice brew. Nonetheless, there it was... and on sale. It comes in the 1 pint 6 fluid oz size bottle. Lagunitas being Lagunitas, I thought it prudent to give it a try. What a find! This is a dark ale that seems to be crossed with an authoritative IPA. The O.G is 1.075, it has an IBU of 65 and hefts an 8.2% by volume of punch. This brew forms a substantial head when poured that subsides within a minute or so. There are the dark, chocolaty flavors of the stout mingled nicely with the bitter pleasing bite of hops. That's a nice combination. Make no mistake, I am not a beer snob who finds 'notes of leather, jasmine and peach' in beers that I enjoy. I know what I like and I like this very much. If you are fortunate enough to find this offering in your location do yourself a favor and give it a try. In the words of Eric Burdon and the Animals, "It will be worth it"! (1,052 characters)

I’ve had the joy of seeing Lagunitas grow over the course of the past decade, visiting periodically every year or so, and they’re certainly deserving of all the success they’ve had to date.

They call this place a beer sanctuary and boy does it live up to its name… It’s like an oasis from the city, and even from the industrial park where Lagunitas is headquartered. Outdoor picnic tables, some barstools inside, and a 300-person concert grounds adjoining it make for pure nirvana.

On my last visit I sat down to wait for the tour and they brought out water, peanuts and pretzels almost immediately. Absolutely love, love, love it here.

Music every day. Outdoor concert garden. Sunny weather. And fantastic folks. Everyone is laid back, friendly, and maybe just a tad bit eccentric. But in a good way.

They keep their regulars on tap year round and release seasonal and one-offs on occasion. Every Thursday (at 4:20, natch) is a cask selection. I can’t comment on the quality of the food but they have plenty of options (in sandwich form). Come here for the beers, for the music, for the good vibes. I know I’ll be back. (1,142 characters)

Went for the Lagunitas tour on my honeymoon this past week. Before the actual tour starts, we were given 7 4oz taster pours. The tour was pretty short but fun all the same. At the beer garden, there was an OK live band, and lots of special brews. A new Firkin every Thursday. Great service, and I say this even though they lost our food order. Our food was comped even though I told the waitress it wasn't necessary. Employees were around chatting everyone up, and it was a great vibe all around. Beers were about 5 bucks a piece. Great brewery. (545 characters)

Totally awesome vibe here. You walk into a really large beer garden, tons of long row tables, they can really entertain a good amount of people. Just as cool as that, there was a band that did about 2 hours of Hank Williams tunes. Lots of Hawaiain shirt guys around, all of them were really cool.

Quality of the beers here are awesome, really enjoyed the wet hop ipa, they do it about as good as anyone. The habanero ipa was crazy, would go up to the edge of too spicy, and then relent just barely. Barrel aged hairy eyeball was pretty good too.

Never had to wait for a beer, they bring you pretzels and peanuts, really was as close to perfect as possible. Prices were just great. Dogs totally welcome, just a really cool unpretentious, friendly place. Stayed about 1-2 hours longer than planned because it was so happening on a warm November Saturday.

Oh yeah, inside there's a wooden bar that makes a square. Only went there to use the restroom. (952 characters)

This place was pretty impressive. The seating areas and bar locations provided plenty of space for our group and the rest of the masses already there. We managed eight samples of their specialty beers which were all pretty good. Picking a favorite was hard but I think I managed to grab a growler of the Sonoma Farmhouse Saison.

Favorite: Sonoma Farmhouse Saison, extremely smooth and refreshing.

I would love to go back and try the food but otherwise, really liked the ambiance and vibe. It matches the branding perfectly. (525 characters)

I really enjoyed visiting this brewery. The atmosphere was great, friendly and the Lagunitas staff was not only professional but very knowledgeable. Service was great, seated and served almost instantly. I had just came from Russian River for the Pliny The Younger release (seemed less than 15 miles away), so after waiting 5 1/2 hours in line for Younger, the serving and seating was excellent. I had a few of there bottled beers, the cappuccino stout is okay, wasn't the biggest fan of there bottled beers, but have to say there on tap selection is underrated! The gnarly wine, as well as the barrel aged imperial stout is great!!! It's too bad the don't put either in growlers for you. Overall i enjoyed the experience there and will not hesitate to go there again, if in the area. Truthfully the only reason i would be in that area of California is to go to Russian River, but will pass by Lagunitas again if in that area.!!! (929 characters)

I visited this place one evening recently after a stopping at an overrated brewery about 10 miles north. I absolutely love Lagunitas. I have admired the beer for many years and the brewery/pub did not disappoint. I have been to a lot of brewpubs and the atmosphere at Lagunitas was one of the best. The staff was a little laid back but very friendly and knowledgable.

The beer selection was great and fresh Lagunitas beer is unbelievable. The food selection is not extensive but everything I had was fresh and delicious.

This place is just plain "cool" - with a nice outdoor courtyard/beer-garden adjacent to a cozy bar/pub. I didn't get to take the brewery tour but I'll bet it was nice. They seem to really focus on the customer experience which I love. I will go out of my way to go back to this place again. (814 characters)

Best Beer drinking atmosphere when it comes to a pub or brewery I've ever experienced. Feels like you're camping and drinking beer at a outdoor bluegrass festival in the summer, (Dogs welcome) and very comfortable setting for yourself and friends in the winter. There's just a super friendly vide going on like everyone is genuinely happy to be there, every time I'm there. Can't beat it.

Good pub food. BBQ Pork Sliders always as must. Not a huge food selection, but enough to satisfy a light or a hearty eater. It's all about the beer after all...

Let's talk value. Samples are not skimpy and inexpensive. If you're not sure about a beer or two, the help is not greedy about letting you sample son that you get the right beer in your glass. After 4-5 beers and a small meal, you'll be shocked that your bill is still only around $23-$26. Best value for any brewery I've ever been to.

When I'm in the area, I thoroughly enjoy drinking beer at Russian River Brewing Company, but it can't touch the atmosphere and good times you'll have at Lagunitas. (1,052 characters)

A group of us just got back from San Francisco. We hit Muir Woods in the early afternoon and then drove a short while to Petaluma for a visit to the brewery.

Tucked away in an industrial area, but plenty of parking late afternoon. It was a bit chilly, but the outdoor area had a few of those nice heat lamps around the wooden seating benches...we almost got too warm sitting under them.

We ordered their big beer sampler (I think it was 24 four ounce samplers of all the goods...simply divine. I love just about everything from these guys...to get it fresh from the source was just awesome. Wait staff was friendly and fast.

We took a late afternoon tour as well. A lot of fun. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and quite funny. It was great walking through the brewery and hearing about the upcoming Chicago location. Even my wife, the non-drinker, had a good time.

I'd certainly recommend this place to anyone visiting the area. Tasting some fresh Sucks from the source may have spoiled me a bit. (1,007 characters)

Located in Petaluma, this new beer garden/beer bar opened in the Lagunitas complex. Walking in on a Saturday there was a live band playing laid back tunes. The beer bar is located adjacent to the brewery's offices. On tap they had about 8 beers, including the Pils, Hop Stupid, IPA, Correction Ale, and a beer bar only Bourbon Barrel aged Cappuccino Stout which was fantastic. They also had a number of bombers available including a number of Zappa tribute beers. Limited seating is available inside-we chose to sit in the spacious beer garden. They had light snacks and later brought in some grilled hot dogs, etc. Prices were reasonable and service was fantastic. Spoke to one of the co-owners and he allowed my wife and me to rummage through boxes, upon boxes, of old labels and take what we wanted! Nice... only wish I lived nearer. (836 characters)

Lagunitas is a whole lot of fun. When I visited there was a local band playing a set, the place was packed and, importantly, the beer was great.

Sitting at the bar, service was good with the bartenders and one of the brewers being happy to chat despite the crowd and being happy to point out their favourite beers.

The wood laden, semi-industrial setting is nice and suits the place well and I'm sure it is a little more comfortable when there isn't live music.

The selection was also good. Along with the standard range, there was also a great selection of limited releases including their Gueuze and a BA Stout.

Overall, I really liked the joint and I'd be here all the time if I lived in Petaluma. (705 characters)

My main reason for going to Lagunitas was the brewery tour, but my wife and I also decided to have a late lunch at the pub. The food was quite good and reasonably priced, and there are a wide array of special release and limited beers available that are almost impossible to find outside the brewery. We each ordered the beer sampler, which is priced based on which four beers you want to try. We chose eight different beers, mostly focusing on the special releases like the bourbon-aged stout and the Fusion series. It was a great way to sample a wide selection of Lagunitas brews.

After the meal we headed into the brewey for the free tour. Unfortunately so did a huge crowd of other people, many of whom were quite drunk and clearly only there for the free beer that precedes the tour. I'm pretty sure a good number of them didn't even actually tour the brewey... Anyway, if you make the trip to the brewery, make sure to go on the early tour. They pump you full of beer before taking you through. And I mean FULL of beer. I lost count of how many samples they gave the crowd, but I think it was five or six cups per person. And they came fast too. The guide jokingly said that it was because the brewery was so small and boring that they had to get us drunk before taking us on the tour.

The tour itself is fast, and the guide definitely has a set monologue that he was running through. He did make some time to answer questions though. It is an impressive brewery for a "craft brewer" and the guide pointed out that they were just getting ready to almost double their capacity. Signs of the astronomical leap in their popularity I guess. And deservedly so, as the beer, the food and the tour all were great! (1,714 characters)

Lagunitas is where I most often go because, I love this place for the atmosphere. This is a must for anyone who lives near or anyone visiting the Bay Area.

In the Tap Room you'll find all the standard brews like their IPA, Little Sumpin' Sumpin' and so forth but you will also see a few beers that they have some fun with and release specifically for the brewery. I always recommend getting the tasters for $5 so you can try any four and go with ones you can't get elsewhere. Some of their best stuff, unfortunately, you will not find outside of here.

I recommend sitting at the bar where the service is really good, but if you sit outside, be prepared to wait. At times they can be very busy and understaffed so service can slow down. The food is okay, but nothing special. There is music everyday to enjoy; either outside in the summer or inside when it's cold. You should take the tour which is fun and you get a considerable amount of free beer which is always nice.

Overall a really nice laid back place to spend some time. Come here ready to relax. (1,057 characters)

My wife and I made a special trip out to Petaluma to visit the Lagunitas beer garden after a full day of hiking at the Point Reyes Seashore and had an absolutely lovely time. They offer tours (which we weren't able to take but I've heard are great), but the reason to visit is their beer garden. It's set up family style with a number of picnic tables so you just grab a seat and head up to the bar to order a pint... and you can also order food to your table. The food menu is a bit limited but tasty, and the beer garden is phenomenal. Great selection, with a number of 'brewery only' beers on tap (the bourbon aged imperial cappuccino stout was to die for). I wish we lived next door! (692 characters)

Pulling up in the parking lot, it is quite obvious that the facility started life as a generic office building. Once you park the car and work your way towards the back of the complex, you'll find a very cool taproom. The establishment has a Roadhouse feel to it, with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. There is also a small amphitheater for live acts. It's Thursday evening, as I write this, and the place is happening! The soundtrack is blues/rock with an emphasis on the blues. I'm currently drinking a Lagunitas Tocaloma Amber (a cask ale that does a wonderful job of mimicking a real English Bitters). I'm a happy lad. If you get chance, make sure to give this place a visit. (684 characters)

Visited back in October 2009. I totally dig this place! Wondering in from the office park parking into the "beer sanctuary" you realize that you have found a gem in the rough. Perfect! The outdoor beer garden area is filled with picnic tables and looks like a super fun place to hang out... it was a bit early in the day and the sun was on the bright side so most people were inside. The interior had a great feel as well, not too polished and not self-consious in any way. We sat at the big central bar ringed with stools and enjoyed a sampler and a couple pints. The service was good, very friendly. A large selection of Lagunitas's range was on tap along with some special offerings on cask. Overall this place is just what I think a brewery bar should be like... I wish I lived closer! (789 characters)
