The second Rock Bottom I've been to. Dropped by here on a Friday lunch hour and the place was absolutely packed and this is no small place either. Atmosphere is grandiose for a brewpub, pseudo-formal in my opinion. I'm used to the rustic feel of the Lafayette Brewing Co. and this is something different. I had the Ma Stout as the other selections seemed uninspiring or sort of bland. The beer was pretty good and I wish I had time to venture into the other selections. Food portions were enormous again and generally good. You can't really beat the location but I wish for a wider selection of interesting(to me) beers. I know this is unfair as you can't please all. But I will definately be going to the Rock Bottom in Indy again, plus it got bonus points as my girlfriend really enjoyed it (that's not too common).

Had to edit my rating from a long time ago. The head brewer from the north side Rock Bottom moved down to this downtown location and he brought his considerable brewing talents with him. If NEIPAs are your thing, he's brewing up some really good ones. I've also enjoyed his Mexican-style stouts with peppers, cinnamon, vanilla etc. Last time I was in I had one of the pizzas and it was surprisingly good. Not your typical chain joint thanks to the new brewing crew.

My wife and I went here after walking around downtown Indy and deciding to stop in somewhere for a few beers. I am glad we ended up going here. We ended up having 3 beers each which were all above average quality. I had the Brown Ale, American IPA, and the West Coast Red Ale which was cask aged. My wife had the Summer, Red Ale, and American IPA.

Atmosphere was pretty dead, which is to be expected at 130pm for most places.

The bartender, Jamie, was amazing. We were the only 2 at the bar and she talked to us basically about anything. She was very knowledgeable about the beers and also gave some recommendations for activities we could do while downtown.

Price was very reasonable. We ended up getting all 6 beers for less than $30 which was a nice surprise.

Overall I would definitely recommend Rock Bottom to others. The bar was clean, service was great and the beer was high quality. I will be returning next time I'm in Indy.

Visited for lunch while on vacation in Indy. Server talked me out of my first beer choice (Porter) to try the limited release Belgian. It was good, but I wish I had stuck with my first choice. Server was very beer knowledgeable. Ordered a Kolsch for my dad, and it was unimpressive. Might as well have ordered a Bud. Food was decent, nothing special. There were four of us we all ordered something different and everyone liked what they had, but would not rush back to eat here again. This was lunch time so it was probably rush hour, but we were sitting right by the POS terminal so no excuses for not noticing my beer was empty. I would have tried another beer if the server had paid attention to us. Overall I'd rate it a meh.

Visited the Indianapolis Rock Bottom on a rainy Saturday night. We were staying downtown for a trade show and knew we could walk from our hotel most of the way to the RB without going outside in the rain.

We went to the bar and found an open high-top table. The table itself was wobbly, so it made me a little paranoid about spilling my drink. The NFL playoffs were on, so the room was lively, and a little loud. Generally clean and friendly.

At a Rock Bottom your going to have five or six standard beers and one brewmaster's special that's usually a little more interesting than the blonde ale. The special was out this visit, so I opted for the stout. It's a good irish stout, a little sweeter than a Guinness.

My meal choice was fish tacos. The tacos were good, the black beans were tasty, but the rice was crunchy. (either undercooked or really overcooked and dried out)

Our server did a pretty good job. Nothing extraordinary, but our orders were on time and accurate.

I feel like I'm damning Rock Bottom with faint praise. Really, it's good, just it's not amazing. (and it's kind of a cookie cutter thing. Not much difference from Indy, Cinci or Denver)

I go to a fire department conference in Indy every year and this is always on the agenda.

The food is kind of upscale and a little pricey for me especially when you are in a city with various bars that have great food and great deals all day every day.

The atmosphere is fine especially when I am there as it is filled with firemen and we know how to have a good time no matter where we go!

The beer selection is also top notch, the circle city light and the Fire Chief ale are my personal favorites.

This is a great place that is a staple of Indy a MUST SEE when you visit this city.

A: Nice open and fairly well lit. Everything looks taken care of and clean. Even when full it doesn't seem to be that loud. Nice family atmosphere.

Q: Pretty good overall. I generally think all of there beers are good and consistent.

S: Good service. Don't expect your waiter or waitress to know anything about beers though. For us the service has always been good and friendly. The last time it was a bit slow.

S: Generally speaking I think they have a limited amount of beers. Not a lot of styles represented.

F: Good stuff with a good selection. I think there is something for everyone at a place like this.

V: I think the beer and food pricing is spot on. This place is a slightly upscale chain and I think the pricing shows that somewhat.

A- this place looks very upscale and has nice decor and lighting.

Q-the quality of the food was good, the quality of the beer was just average imo.

S-promt service and waitress.. waitress Didn't have a sugestion when i asked what her favorite beer was out of 3. Which is no big deal as she doesn't like beer.

S-very limited selection.. mostly all in house brews and those are nothing to rave about

f-good food with decent service. It's not bar food but not 5 star either.. a very nice medium ground. Enjoyed the food alot.

V-food was priced very reasonable and the beer was maybe 1$ too much but can't really complain

overall this is a nice place to go have dinner with the wife of gf but if your looking for a great beer experience.this is probably not gonna do it for ya.

I like to go to this place every so often but wouldn't go more than once a year. Decent beer selection (all stuff they make) and good food. A bit pricey for what you're getting, even by Downtown standards.

I think it may be better as a sit-down restaurant than a bar, which is actually not very big. I did go once during a Colts game and enjoyed the atmosphere and service.

The beer they brew for their restaurants are always good but not great. They're not very creative with styles and sort of do the run-of-the-mill thing. But the ones they have are always pretty good. Definitely worth a try.

Stopped by here after Winterfest a couple months back.

A- Looks like a upscale palce with a light sports bar like them to it. Dimmly lit but not too dark.

Q- The quality of the beer was good with the beer itself being served in the right glasses. Nice pours as well on the beers themselves that I had and what I could see with my friend's pours a well.

S- The service was good here with the bartender being prompt and asking if we needed beers and was quick with the bill.

S- My only real complaint with the place was the beer list as there was only one of each style on the board. Not a huge beer list but average.

Overall the beers I thought were a little pricey with this being a chain but...oh well can't have it all.

Nice place to go and sample the brews. Pretty good atmosphere and a nice "drinking" feel. I did the sampler and had all 8 of the beers, which was a very good selection (the hand pump was out). They were all good to very good. The IPA was excellent. They had a good variety and they definitely exhibited superior quality. The bartender was a really nice guy and provided good service. The sampler was really inexpensive and that was the icing on the cake for me. I recommend a stop here if you are Indy and I know I'll be back should I find myself there again.

My third Indianapolis brewpub in two days, and thankfully the best.

The bar is very nice, with large fermenters visible through the glass behind the bar, and the restaurant in general had a very nice vibe going with wood floors, high top tables, and red leather booths. They also very much play up the brewery aspect of their business.

As a nice bonus, there were many flat screen TV's overhead devoted to sports. A nice bonus on a Monday night during football season. Don't worry if you aren't a sports fan though, as there was no volume.

The staff was attentive, prompt, and pleasant.

The restaurant was pretty busy for a Monday night, but there was no wait to get in.

The selection was pretty typical. A dozen appetizers, a few salads, sandwiches, burgers, and a few main course dishes such as steak and salmon.

I had the seared ahi tuna appetizer for $10.99 and it was decent. Not the best I've ever had, but the best I've ever had a brew pub. In addition, their honey mustard chicken sandwich ($10.49) was great, and their beer selection was reasonably priced at $4.99 per pint. I would definitely go back.

Another bonus is that there is plenty of down town parking ($1.50 up to 3 hours) and a lot to do within walking distance in case you find yourself staying in down town Indianapolis.

(From notes)

Good stop for me since I was staying very close by. The atmosphere was OK; pretty typical bar/brewpub interior that seemed to be a little 'nicer' inside. Very much enjoyed the outdoor seating area, which is always welcomed.

Nice range of brew styles, some pretty standard, but reaching to a saison. Brews were handled well and were fresh, nothing completely outstanding but nothing terrible that I sampled.

Service was prompt enough, and pleasant. Was able to recite the full menu, along with descriptions which was helpful.

Definitely worth a look if you are staying in close proximity, but I couldn't see myself traveling far for this one.

Stopped in at the Lake Circle Drive location in Indy with my wife & our friends. First impressions are of your typical restaurant/bar. We thought that things were going to go bad because the hostess at the door was a little ass hole, this got resolved later as we were not the only people who had a problem with him that night.
Anyway that was the only problem with the place. Once we were seated our sever was quickly over & introduced herself. She had a pretty good knowledge of all the beers on tap, & was very helpful & polite. Our drinks were brought out very quick & she really stayed on top of things making sure we had everything without being all over us every second, her timing was honestly perfect.
We all had something different I had a Burger, my wife ordered Sirloin I believe I can't quite recall what our friends ordered (sorry I'm a couple week out from when we stopped) but anyway the food was unbelievable. This was the first my wife & I along with our friends have ever stopped somewhere & been completely satisfied with everything.
The Beer was great, even my wife loved most of it & she hates Beer. Myself & my buddie both had a pint of Trouble their Triple & our other friend had their sampler. I also Had one of their Stouts (can't recall the name though) & took home a Growler of the Trouble.
We even all ordered desserts which we never do, that was also just unbelievable, before we left.
Overall our experience at Rock Bottom was very good & we will be back for sure. We have been dieing to go again ever since.
