Bacchus Fine Wine & Spirits is attached to The Black Tulip in Midway, so it can't be bad at all. It's in a brand new building in downtown Midway, and has a lovely atmosphere. There is a large heavy wooden door there to greet you, and inside, aisles and aisles of wine are there to greet you. There's a few beer gift packs out on the shelves, but all the other beer is in the cooler. They have a fairly decent selection, including Flying Dog, Unibroue, Duvel, Goose Island (including the limited edition 4-packs), Avery, Stone, and others. There's a few good German and Belgian beers to be had as well. The service is the same friendly people next door at The Black Tulip, so if you find something nice at Bacchus, and don't want to wait to get home, you can crack it open next door! In such a small town like Midway, this is an oasis for beer lovers.

I just moved from Midway back to Louisville. The owner of the establishment used to have a location across the street. It seems that he had more "space" in the older location and had a much larger beer and wine selection. However, he still maintains the "better beers" and some very nice wines. Overall the new location is a very nice place. There is a draw of "loyal locals" to the place. The people working there are quite knowledgeable of the products they carry in the store and are very helpful.

I visited one day in search of a beer I'd never had before. After a nice conversation about what types of beer I usually drink, the owner suggested a very nice beer that I enjoyed very much. It's a small town store, so you get the customer service that only a hometown place can give. Sure, there's a bigger selection at the bigger liquor stores in nearby Lexington, but you won't get the personal attention you get at Bacchus.

Another thing I really like about Bacchus is that in addition to the wine tastings, that are a big local hit. The owner shows "equal billing" and sponsors beer tastings. Fantastic.

I noticed that another person mentioned an Equus Run wine... the Blush is an excellent selection, but if you appreciate good wine or know a wine fanatic...Equus Run Vineyards is a good place to go...also located in Midway. I lived there for several years, so of course I'm a fan of the local shops. Bacchus is a top choice in my book...stop in and enjoy.

I stopped in the Bacchus prior to going to the next door Black Tulip bar. I heard that they carried a good beer selection, so I picked up a 6-pack of Stone IPA and a Rogue Shakespeare Stout. A beautiful wine shop with a cooler of real beer. They had a small but nice selection of micros and imports. Some of the selection include black sheep, great lakes, flying dog, and holy grail. Though the help is friendly, you may have to be patient because the help at the Black Tulip also mans the Bacchus. Its good to see good beer in small town America.

Droped over while at the Black Tulip. For the location, there is quite a selection here. Goose special releases, Bell's, Samuel Smith's are among a moderate variety of beers available. It looked as though everything was fresh and stored properly. When we were there, the help was running the bar next door, but I saw them interact with some of the folks that came in for the liquor store, and everyone was well taken care of. I'm not sure who will have a reason to stop in Midway, outside of us that live close, but if you do, stop in and take a look. A very nice store for where it is located.
