Blah. Just as good things can appear before your eyes, sometimes that thing doesn't realize that potential. With a sizable interior and a number of coolers, I though that Clete's would have a larger selection of beers than I actually saw. There is a small room temperature display of random beers, otherwise what you'll find is chilled. Inside those coolers were a surprisingly large proportion of six-packs and a very small number of single bottles. I did note that a few bottles were missing from their respective multi-packs, so perhaps they allow the breakup of six packs. Still, the overall beer selection didn't wow this picky customer. There was Aztec, Dogfish Head, Stone (and fresh Arrogant Bastard), and not much else among the craft options. None of the beers I spotted were priced, and we know what that does for a consumer. The checkout person was kind though.

Motor along, not much to see here....

This place is two and a half blocks from my house in San Dimas, so I had to check it out. I finally got around to doing so last week.

The store is your fairly typical liquor store with the more expensive stuff behind the counter and the shelves lined with snacks and bottles of liquor and wine.

The coolers are straight ahead to the back of the store, which is where all the beer is. The craft selection is fairly small and consists mainly of Sierra Nevada, Sam Adams, and a few other offerings. There are also a decent number of imports, but many of these are South American. The European ones are not the Belgian imports that most beer geeks would be looking for.

The beauty, I suppose, of this store is their rather interesting selection of malt liquors. They have several that I have not seen elsewhere (or have seen only very rarely).

They also sell almost anything as a single from the sixpacks, so if you don't want a full sixer of something, just pull a bottle/can from the pack.

The gentleman working there was kind enough and when I left asked me if there was anything in particular that I was looking for. So, it was nice to see that he was generally interested in helping.

The prices didn't seem like anything out of the ordinary. I guess if you're in need of a quick beer, this spot would work, but you would probably be better off heading up the road a few miles to Lone Hill.
