English Pale Ale |  5.00% ABV

Availability: Year-round

Notes/Commercial Description:
Crisp golden ale with a delicate hop finish. This is our lightest ale and it is brewed with a bit wheat malt for body and Munich and Aromatic malts for and undertone of honey-like sweetness. Lightly dry-hopped with Cascade hops for that classic American golden ale aroma.

Appearance - Nice gold color of this beer makes the anticipation very high.

Smell - Smelled like a Ale should, little citrus note

Taste - very well balanced beer, I think this is more of a lager style then and English pale.

Mouthfeel - Clean and crisp.

Overall - It is a great beer to have a while waiting for dinner a pallet cleanser.

I had the Cross of Gold on tap at Sweet Baby Rays on Clark Street. Served in a standard pint, the beer is gold with a fluffy white head and awesome lacing. It has an aroma of milled grains, crackers and a bit of citrus.

Taste closely tracks the smell. It is slightly hoppier than I thought it would be but it works as a very approachable cross-over beer.

The mouth is yeoman like. The whole beer ties together nicely. This is a good beer to pair with food.

One of those beers that I see on tap everywhere and or some reason have not had. That is my mistake, don’t make the same one!

definitely the most generic beer happening at revolution. not a bad beer, but this one is brewed for the much less adventurous palate, not a throwaway, but a relatively uninspired brew. it is darker than the standard golden, with just a hint of amber to it, and a lace head an inch high. it smells and tastes like a mix of euro pils and pale malts, nothing interesting on the grain front. the hops are light as well, balancing bitterness without nuances of any kind. sort of an oatmealy sudsy feel to this one, with more body than is customary, and fine carbonation. revolution does some really cool stuff, but this one is just a beer to me, nothing to write home about.
