22oz bottle poured into a pint glass
A: Golden color with a two-finger head
S: Wheat, fresh bread, florals & a hint if citrus rind from the hops
T: Floral with light wheat & again a bit of citrus. Nice subtleties but needs a bit more flavor
M: Light-bodied, crisp
O: Love the aromas, solid overall just could use a little more intensity

Edit: I see after the fact this bottle was dated almost a year ago. I'll find a fresher one and re-review

Had this one on tap at my local, Farmhouse.

A: Pours a not totally hazy, not totally clear medium gold with a short but resilient white head. When the head does finally dissipate, I'm left with a beautiful lacing on the inside of the glass.

S: The first word that comes to mind with the smell is "barnhouse." That is a strong aroma of wheat and bready malt with definite hops and a grassy finish. There are certainly some citrusy smells here but not the dominant ones.

T: Much to match the aroma, this is both wheaty and citrusy but more in the reverse order. With the taste, the citrus hops hit me first suggesting grapefruit. Then I get the much more earthy flavors with a grassy wheat finish.

M: This brew has a heavier mouthfeel than I expected but is still crisp and refreshing.

O: A very balanced brew. This is not the most original combination of flavors coming out of Revolution but a very enjoyable one. It is citrusy and refreshing while being just heavy enough to have all year round.

I tried this beer at the Revolution Brewpub in Chicago. I had it with my bowl of cheddar beer soup that is made with this beer in it. Served in a pint glass for $5.

The beer pours a medium gold color with a 1-finger white head that lasts quite awhile before settling down to just a white cap on top. The lacing is incredible.

There's a nice smell to this beer. It has a mix of wheat, bready malt, and citrus hops.

I also like the taste. There's a noticeable tart lemon flavor to it, balanced by wheat, crackery malt, and a kiss of honey sweetness. Then comes a mild and lingering bitterness (25 IBU's) from the dry hopping of Cascade hops. It's a nice mix.

Light to medium bodied with some medium crisp carbonation.

They told me this is the lightest beer they make,, but out of the 20 or so that I've tried here I also rank it one of their best.

22 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 6/19/2013. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy bright golden color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass, with some moderate streaming carbonation. Aromas of big orange peel, grapefruit, lemon zest, orange rind, floral, grass, wheat, light honey, and floral earthiness. Very nice aromas with big citrus hop presence and moderate malt balance; with good strength. Taste of orange zest, tangerine, grapefruit, lemon zest, floral, grass, bread, wheat, light honey, and floral earthiness. Slight floral bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of citrus, citrus zest, floral, grass, bread, wheat, light honey, and floral earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity of citrus hop flavors with a moderate malt balance; with good flavor robustness and no cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and light-medium bodied; with a very smooth and crisp mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice blond ale! All around good balance and complexity of hop and malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Appearance - Nice gold color of this beer makes the anticipation very high.

Smell - Smelled like a Ale should, little citrus note

Taste - very well balanced beer, I think this is more of a lager style then and English pale.

Mouthfeel - Clean and crisp.

Overall - It is a great beer to have a while waiting for dinner a pallet cleanser.

I had the Cross of Gold on tap at Sweet Baby Rays on Clark Street. Served in a standard pint, the beer is gold with a fluffy white head and awesome lacing. It has an aroma of milled grains, crackers and a bit of citrus.

Taste closely tracks the smell. It is slightly hoppier than I thought it would be but it works as a very approachable cross-over beer.

The mouth is yeoman like. The whole beer ties together nicely. This is a good beer to pair with food.

One of those beers that I see on tap everywhere and or some reason have not had. That is my mistake, don’t make the same one!
