Very dark brown that appears black in the glass. Just over one finger of head forms and sticks around for a long time before eventually settling to a thin cap. Light spotty lacing is left down the glass.
Dark malt aroma of chocolate, molasses, and graham crackers. Getting some fruity esters as well. No sign of alcohol. Getting a very slight hint of acidity.
Cannot make up my mind if this tastes more Belgian or British. There is a slight acidic bit in the finish that really confuses my palate. I get flavor notes of chocolate, coffee, and caramel from the malt. A lot of yeast esters and phenols as I pick up cherries, plums, and raisins. A touch of spice as well. Alcohol is not noticeable.
Starts off as a solid, robust porter. But the finish is really weak and thin. Feels like a much smaller beer. I do not think the carbonation is the problem as I find that solid.
Different sort of porter. Has some unique properties that does not make beer easy to categorize. Part Belgian, part British, and part American.

Pours a very thin, tan head. Body is black with dark coffee color highlights. Head retention and lacing died very fast and left no trace.
First smells are of candied stone fruits like figs and prunes. Sweet crystallized and roasted malts also are in play. Hops are not detected and alcohol is very light.
Taste is of tons of sweet dark fruits, i.e. prunes and raisins. Sweet malt is also present with some Belgian yeast in the background. Hops aren't a factor and alcohol is very light, as in nose. There is a slight soy sauce off taste that lingers unfortunately.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied for a porter, beer is well carbonated. Head immediately died so that deducted from its score.
Overall, this beer was slightly above average and not anywhere near my top 10 porters I've had. The off flavors present negated any good characteristics the beer had. Cool can, so-so beer.
