An American hop assault for all the ambivalent warriors who get the girl in the end. “Look, I ain't in this for your revolution, and I'm not in it for you, Princess.” This iconic ale features a blend of four hop varieties which creates a crisp bitterness and imparts massive floral and citrus aromas.

12 oz canned on July 9th, 1 week old.

A: Copper/orange color with haze. Very nice lacing and retention. Some floaties, but that doesn't bother me.

S: Oranges, freshly cut lawn, lemon, grains.

T: A nice example of an American IPA. Grassy, citrusy bitterness leads way to a light malt backbone.

M: Dry, nice carbonation.

O: Very solid. I like it. Cans forever.

Anti-Hero is a nice IPA that I picked up on my latest trip to IL. It pours with a slightly hazy amber hue and sports a fluffy cream cap that has OK retention and leaves bits of lace behind.

The beer's nose leans toward pine scents that ride on top of caramel. In the mouth, there's a strong bitter bite that doesn't reach overpowering levels. A bit of sweet malts cut the bitterness. A lingering pine and citrus finish rounds things out. A sticky and oily body with a tad too much fizz rounds out the experience.

Overall, this is a good IPA that stands out from the pack just enough to get noticed.

bad poor - no head, no retention, and a little lacing but it disappears quickly.

floral, piney, and resinous - men's cologne-esque

doesn't taste as happy as it smells, but still taste like hops. more fruity and citrusy in taste.

feels weak on the tongue, not much body. "miller lite" ipa.

good but not great, drinkable, "a lite ipa". a good every day ipa.

Pours a lightly hazy orange-ish to yellow color with an off white head. In the aroma, orange citrus hops. In the taste, mellow orange citrus hops, with a small dryness. A small hop bite, and a medium bodied mouthfeel, with a dry orange citrus hop in the aftertaste. Nice IPA, mellow hops, but balanced.

ive heard this is better packaged than on tap, which isn't always the case with ipa. from the tap it pours a medium honey color, with some darker caramel malt tones underneath and a nice big white sudsy topping. the nose on this is big and beautiful, lots of pine notes here, not quite as dank as the dos osos ipa, but equally robust. good malt balance, not as pale or light as most ipas, and I appreciate the grain depth and complexity here. the same comes through in the taste, with a more interesting grain bill than is conventional, but the hops are the star of this show, as they should be. fresh cut Christmas tree and summer melon come to my tongue in a unique and interesting combination, and the beer finishes tauntingly bitter. carbonation is spot on, and the body is on the bigger side, maybe a little filling after two or three. one of the better beers I slugged back at revolution.

Canned 6/25/13 and poured July 8th -- hard to beat that.

Appearance: A pretty clear amber color, with maybe just a slight haze to it. There's maybe a finger or two of head, but it bubbles away pretty quickly. There's basically no lacing. This doesn't have the look of some of the other critically acclaimed IPAs, but that's not a huge deal. I do love the label on the can though, which is why my appearance rating is bumped up a bit. That probably shouldn't factor in, but oh well. On one side you get the fist that's shown in the picture on this site, and then on the other you have General Hophead with hops falling from the sky with parachutes. It's just a memorable, good looking label.

Smell: Sweet, but without tropical fruit smells that I've had in a good number of IPAs I've had recently. Instead, this has that sweet, bursting piney hop aroma. I haven't ever been in the presence of pot before, but I imagine this is what it probably smells like.

Taste: Almost exactly like the smell. Sweet, piney, Mary Jane sorts of taste through and through. The aftertaste is slightly sticky, and absolutely fantastic. I'm not sure I've had a fresher tasting IPA -- this is almost like just sucking on a hop. Anti-hero has hops through and through, but it's not intensely bitter at all. This has a great sweetness to it, and it works incredibly well with those sharp, fresh-as-all-hell hops.

This is awesome... absolutely awesome. One of the freshest tasting beers I've ever had. Being bottled 13 days ago no doubt helps. Anti-Hero is definitely now one of my favorite IPAs, and that actually sucks. Revolution needs to start distributing to Michigan soon, because I only got one six-pack of this stuff.

A: awesome bright golden colored body, creates about 1 fingers worth of an off-white head.

S: huge immense grapefruit rocks the nostrils. i also pick up on piney hops, tropical fruits such as pineapple, mango, some orange peel and a sweet sugary malt backbone. quite nice and very well balanced.

T: piney hops, grapefruit and other tropical fruits. there's a much more pronounced sugary malt/caramel backbone sweetness here and it balances beautifully with the hops and tropical fruits. i also pick up on a touch of biscuit here and even a slight touch of honey.

M: lighter bodied, nicely carbonated, leaves a slight honey character on the palate with a nice bitter hop profile bitterness.

O: terrific brew., great flavor profile that has an awesome balance. love the sweet characters and the bitter piney hops.
