Cheers to Goblinmunkey7 for giving me a can of this

Consumed 2/12/13

Appearance: Clear, orange-cold - small, off-white head fades quickly to a tiny cap - leaves some decent spots of lacing

Smell: Floral, bright tangerine - fleshy, sweet tangerine slices - a very mellow citrus (minimal pith/rind) - some hints of dry pine - light malt profile, smells like a "session IPA" (I am surprised to see this is 6.5%) - lightly toasted with some caramel and bread

Taste: Sweet tangerine slices and floral hops - fleshy, sweet citrus - mostly tangerine, some orange, some ruby red grapefruit - lightly oily, a bit leafy, very floral - touch of pine - medium level of bitterness - lightly toasted malts - biscuits and bread, with some caramel, but mostly pale malts - tastes a bit heaver than the aroma suggests, but it's still on the light side

Mouthfeel: Medium-ish body, smooth, a touch oily, finishes mostly dry, adequate carbonation

Overall: Anti-heroes should be deep and compelling. This is almost there...

This is a good IPA, but it could be better. The hops are interesting, and the malts aren't bad. But this kind of tastes lighter than it should. Not particularly deep. Worth a try, and bonus points for the can.

A - Pours with a good head out of the can. Non cloudy appearance and the head comes down quickly. Good golden yellow hue.

S - Mild hints of citrus. Not an extremely powerful smell.

T - Defined citrus notes. Mostly lemon hints. Medium amount of hoppiness for IPA. Very balanced. I think it has a better after taste than initial taste.

M - Medium carbonation. Coats mouth with bitterness. Very refreshing and thirst quenching.

O - Good reliable IPA. Has a consistent feel to it in every can. Always refreshing, and a good standard by which to judge others upon.

Drank straight from the can, so I can judge appearance. Admittedly I just gave appearance a similar score to everything else.

S - really nice juicy citrus, kind of a light aroma, not bowl you over, but smells really nice

T - Super super smooth. Lemon, tangerine, smooth citrus with just a tinge of bitterness. Super easy drinker.

M - about right. Medium carbonation. Great delivery.

O - got this in a box a while back, took it out of the fridge with no expectations, and bango! Surprise! Really nice

Poured out as a nice golden yellow color with a soft white head on top. The retention and lacing look really good here. The smell of the beer is very nice, loaded with hoppy citrus and pine aromas. The taste is much like the nose, very solid tasting brew for sure. The mouthfeel is very good here too, very nice oily feel with a good carbonation to cut it a little. Overall it's a great IPA. I would drink more of this anytime.

Thanks to djcorrao for the can.

Appearance: Mostly clear, slight chill haze. A deep gold. Minimal head. Drops to a thin collar in short order. Spots and notches of lacing cling to the glass. Moderate carbonation,

Smell: Light floral hop aroma fused with some pine and a good hit of citrus. A bit sweet. Malts are a nice balance, offering a slightly caramelized and bready backbone. Some pale malt snap. Nice herbal note. Decidedly floral with an equal citrus presence.

Taste: Hit of grapefruit upfront quickly followed by a floral explosion. Some tropical fruit in in the back. Malts are nicely balanced. Some underlying caramel sweetness and a nice bready element. Vaguely toasted. Some pine resin. So much floral, but not flower petals exactly. Lingering bitterness. Balance is the key here. Warming drops it a bit in favor of the malt, leaving the hops a bit too earthy and underwhelming.

Mouthfeel: Medium body with a moderate carbonation. Lingering dryness with an initial hint of creaminess.

Overall: This is not Batman.

A good drinking IPA. Not a ton of complexity or depth, but enough flavor to be interesting. A but muddled throughout, but worth drinking when you're looking for something quick and easy.

12 oz can, unknown bottling date, $10/6pack, poured into Spiegelau tulip snifter.

A: Golden amber and clear body, 2 finger eggshell-white head with solid retention and lacing.

S: Grapefruit and tropical fruits with floral hops, nice aroma.

T: Follows the nose well but quite subdued, heavy malts in addition to the hop profile, not overly bitter, but a watery finish.

M: Creamy and smooth, medium body, well carbonated, slightly dry on the finish.

O: A solid IPA from a favorite local brewery. There are better IPAs out there with better flavor profiles, but this is a nice one that happens to be canned. Had it before, will have it again, but nothing special.
