On-tap at Revolution.

A - Quick-dissolving off-white foam settles to a bit of wispy haze and thick collar, leaving behind plenty of lacework. Transparent dark brown with red-orange highlights.

S - Nice hoppy character, with pine and citrus featuring predominantly. In the background there is cocoa powder, nuts, toasted malts and red licorice.

T - The hops don't feature as prominently in the flavor imparting only a bit of floral character, with the nuts, cocoa, caramel, and toasty malts taking center stage. Hop bitterness is quite low.

M - Medium-light body, pleasant active carbonation, perhaps a bit watery. Fairly clean finish and aftertaste.

D - Solid, easy-drinking brown ale with a nice hop kick to the aroma. Reminds me a little of fresh Surly Bender. I could easily drink a mug of this one.

I had this on tap into a pint glass at Revolution.

The beer pours a medium brown that is pretty clear. There is a really nice creamy tan head good retention and great lacing.

The aroma is pretty light and gives out what you'd expect in a brown. Light nuttyiness a little hops.

The taste is also on the lighter side, but not in a bad way. You get a little toasted nuttiness, very smooth and easy to drink.

I really likes the working woman...now if I could get the wife to work...OH! Anyway...the beer pored a nice brown color with rich head that laced very nicely. The smell had a fresh hop with some sweet malt character. The taste was bready with good piny hop. The mouthfeel was medium in body with decent carbonation. Overall...I'd recommend this to anyone....a very good brown ale.

A - Dark brown beer with some red highlights on the edges. Off-white head that didn't stay for long but left some great lace and random stick on the sides of the glass throughout consumption.

S - Approriate caramel, backed with some orange and citrus that manages to avoid being acidic. Great floral aroma mixes in so well and finishes off with the slightest bit of butter and brown sugar.

T - Taste is just lip smacking good. Caramel malts are lightened by the citrus and floral notes. Nice toasty malts and lightly sweetend chocolate with a bit of light floral taste. Sweet, but finishes clean.

M - Lighter bodied, good carbonaion, clean finish, refreshing.

O - Well damn, guess I like this beer more than everyone else. Love the nose, love the taste. Nothing became cloying or fatiguing in this, and I could easily have drank another pint.

Served on tap at Revolution. Appearance is a clear chestnut brown. Tan creamy head retains nicely with tons of this lacing. The nose features big time aromatic hops in the form of pine. Some malty note of caramel and toffee are present as well. The taste has an assertive hop profile as well. Brown bread and caramel start things off with a progressively hoppy palate. Finish is somewhat bitter and very refreshing. The mouthfeel is light with mild carbonation. Overall, this is a very hop forward brown. Nice balance and plenty of refreshing quality is present.

Served in a pint glass at Revolution 3/15/11. Thanks to pops for the assist!

A: Served a dark and cloudy brown with a 1/4 finger layer of khaki colored cream. Head evaporated almost immediately but a nice collar left a bit of lace behind.

S: A bit of caramel, roasty malt, and herbal/piney hops but I really had to search to get that out of it.

T: Slightly more prominent in the taste than the nose. Roasty malt and piney hops are pretty much all I got out of this...not that that is a bad thing!

M: Dry and herbal, initially. As it warms a slightly sweet stickiness asserts itself.

D: Enjoyable. I'd like to try again. Maybe the serving temp was too cold? It was hard to shake the complexities out of this guy.

On tap at the brewpub.

Clear medium brown color with a medium off-white head and good lacing.

Aroma is surprisingly hoppy - mainly citrusy - with caramel and slight nuttiness.

Flavor is very hoppy as well. Slight nuttiness with big citrusy hops. Not exactly to style, but since it's described as "a hoppy brown ale" and it's tasty, I'll give it a break on this.

Decent palate, medium bodied with hoppy resins.

Interesting beer overall. This is really a "Brown IPA" in my opinion, if there is such a thing. Pretty drinkable.

A - Dark ruby with tan head. Gorgeous lacing.

S - lemon, toffee and lavender. Maybe glacier and amarillo dry hopped?

T - light honey sweetness and then just enough bitterness to balance. Slightly tannic finish but okay.

M - light carb, medium body.

O - extremely drinkable and well balanced. A solid beer for sure.

Imbibed at the Revolution Brewpub 03/11/2011

Appearance -- Pours a rich mahogany brown with ruddy highlights and a slim creamy beige head. Not too shabby.

Smell -- The malt character of the aroma is quite robust with roast malt, golden toast, and dry cocoa. Prominent hops evoking pithy citrus and pine resin. While not especially aromatic, my interest is piqued...

Taste -- Rich roast malt, mild nuttiness, golden toast, and gentle cocoa sweetness. Like the nose had suggested, hops are quite forward with grapefruit pith and resin. Lingering flavors of roast malt sweetness and resin.

Mouthfeel -- Medium body and somewhat milder carbonation. Could use a boost in bubbles, but otherwise quite good. Smooth and easy-drinking.

Drinkability -- A brown ale that is both robust AND hoppy? Sign me up! This was a very pleasant surprise.

this poured a good solid brown color.

darker nose but not on the big and rich side. Balanced and aromatic with tones of caramel, malts, and chocolate tones

medium bodied with a good feel, but the tones aren't as deep as they are on the nose. The flavor that dominates is mostly caramel with some malt tones as well

this is a quality brown ale. Balanced and easy drinking that is enjoyable with a good caramel finish
