Appearance: Pours a dark orange color. Just under a finger worth of head on the pour which left sticky rings behind. Normal amount of active carbonation for the style, present but kept in check.
Smell: Orange peel, medium bodied fruits, and sweet toffee on the front. There is a peculiar oily, syrupy aroma that is very noticeable on the body and lingers throughout. Solid pine bite on the back end.
Taste: Light to medium bodied tropical fruits hit the palate first. Solid caramel and nutty malt backbone make you believe this is still a pale ale. Malt heaviness pulls up on the back end and a lighter sweetness rounds it out.
Mouthfeel: Very drinkable for what it is. Hops and malt take it easy on the palate. Carbonation is on the lower end.
Overall: A pretty solid beer but nothing really stands out and makes you want to keep coming back. A double pale ale is an interesting style but they pull it off here with a big malt forward beer. Okay but Revolution has many other hop options I would go with before this.
