12oz can, dated 5.29.2014, poured into a Revolution imperial pint glass.

The beer pours a very nice rosie red color, hues of orange, copper and garnet, very clear, very few bubbles rising to the top of the glass, where a fizzy, loose, finger of slightly pinkish white head sits, before dissipating immediately leaving little trace film and no lace. The aroma is heavy on the hibiscus, plenty of backing herbal floral qualities, rose water and wildflower with light earthy hop bitterness before a wash of sweeter, richer malts sweep over. The flavors follow well, plenty of hibiscus, it can't be ignored, rose water, wildflower, honey, lots of thick, malt, sweet and chewy, though not very bready and light hop bitterness. The mouthfeel is nice, full bodied, coats very well, gentle carbonation that has just a little tickle to it with an easy soft finish.

Verdict: A very interesting beer from Revolution, a very nice presentation of hibiscus, but there is little else in terms of complexity or interest. That being said, this beer is very refreshing and quite the thirst quencher, a crushable summer beer that breaks for the norm of lighter pale ales, session ales and lagers. I often find myself wondering why I don't pick this up more often in the summer months, a very worth while brew.
