The soul of Barleywine channeled through vivifying bourbon barrels and blended with an alchemist's touch. Summon notes of caramel, stone fruit, brown sugar, and vanilla with each generous swirl.

Appearance: Pours a completely clear, deep amber to bronze, even almost black color with a moderate tan head that fades rather quickly. (3.75)
Aroma: Strong aromas of upfront of caramel, molasses, and oatmeal. Then comes raisin. maple syrup, dark cherry mixed with the bourbon notes.
Flavor: Strong flavors of caramel, brown bread, bourbon upfront. Molasses and brown bread support. Astringent off the beginning. Then as it mellows more smooth flavors of raisin, fig, dark cherry, and chocolate emerge. Traces of vanilla.
Feel: Heavier-bodied, sort of a weird amount of carbonation. Astringent with bourbon and tea off the beginning. Off the end though it smooths out. Finishes sweet. Alcohol shows upfront, but tames off the end.
Overall: Interesting pour. Milder head than I expected. Intense aromas of bourbon, caramel, oatmeal and molasses. Upfront it's astringent and carries a bourbon burn. As it evolves toward the end there's more raisin, dark cherry, and cocoa flavors. Sweeter and more smooth off the end hiding the alcohol better. Not an expert on the style. It's a bit astringent and burns a bit off the front before the malt sweetness soothes it out. I bet it will be even more smooth and complex with some age. It's very good no doubt. I might have to try more of these Revolution BBA Bombs. (Rating: 4.02)

Commendable. Could easily compete with the best barleywines.

Canned on 10/27/2022; consumed on 1/9/2024
Pours a deep yet clear maroon hue, sporting blood-red accents and capped with a finger and a half of sudsy, beige foam; decent head retention yields a paper-thin layer of cap, slight collar, and minimal-no lacing holding to the walls of the glass.
Aroma carries rich brown sugar and underscore of creamy vanilla, peaking with caramel coated in barrel tannins as softer raisin phases into muddled fig on the back end of the bouquet.
Taste opens with brown sugar and vanilla creme, stimulated with a dark cocoa inflection and subliminal cherry edges over the mid-palate; toasted oak purveys a charry finish as red fruit lingers through the swallow.
Mouthfeel shows a medium-full body and a silky spritz of moderate carbonation; a dry/syrupy contrast yields a subliminal stickiness through the mid-palate as a subtle bittering meanders over the back end.
Rich malt structure complimented by advancing char levels, a certain lightness enhances pointed sweetness to a comfortable harmony just shy of overindulgence.

Dark cloudy brownish amber appearance.
Medium light carbonation with an above average body.
Aroma is caramel, bourbon, dark fruit upfront. Theres malt and wood as well and it all blends perfectly.
Taste is almost identical to aroma with the high abv being well hidden for the most part.
Overall I'm not usually a fan of barleywine but I would seek this out again

Sipping on this Straight Jacket, but I don’t need one because I feel straight up in thought. My mind is not in disarray. And in fact, I feel a bit gay. A four leaf clover I have picked. And while sipping the thang, I feel that I have the winning ticket. Maybe not one that could buy all that can be; but still to feel kind of pumped, and to still be me: sometimes a lion that roars, but other times a butterfly floating with ease. As for yourself, I suggest that you sip on a Straight jacket, and see where you might be.

Canned: 10/27/2022
Drank: 5/12/2023
Pour is a deep amber / mahogany, with a half finger of light khaki head that fades quickly to the slightest cap on the glass and ring around the edges. No lacing.
Nose is caramel, toffee, raisin, soft bourbon, honey
Taste: follows nose. upfront, toffee, caramel, hints of raisin, all layered over soft bourbon, lightly nutty. Definitely a sweet sipper. 15% ABV is very well hidden.

12oz can. Stamped on can bottom is 'FILLED OCT/27/2022'.
Ruby brown colored body. Brief lasting off white to beige head, leaving a partial skim and thin ring. No lacing.
Aroma of sweet caramel and bourbon oak barrel, with a touch of dark fruit raisin.
Taste is creamy caramel and toffee, with a background of bourbon oak barrel. Also there is dark fruit raisin. The sweetness lingers in the aftertaste.
Thicker mouth feel, with a creamy texture. Quiet carbonation.
The high ABV% is very well hidden, but does still appear more in the nasal passages. Lots of sweet caramel flavors and some raisin.

2022 Batch! Sweet caramel-toffee, hint of butterscotch, faint hint of raisins, and vanilla bourbon barrel nose on this one! Very nice aromatics! Taste follows with a brown sugar sweet malty and bourbon boozy finish...as it warms, a little hoppy bitterness starts to peek out at the end of the swallow. This finishes A little thin IMO, but it is well-executed and well-balanced. Good stuff!
2023 Batch (ratings adjusted from 4.42 for 2022)! Sweet honey and candied caramel, a hint of butterscotch, dates and figs, and a balanced vanilla-bourbon barrel nose on this one! Taste follows with a slightly thin, but delicious, caramel malty and well-integrated bourbon boozy finish. A little thinner than I like my BWs, but this captures what you want in an barrel-aged English Barleywine. This is good Lyfe!
