Thanks to Robbie for this one.
2012 Vintage; poured in to tulip.

A - Poured dark brown, settled black with one finger of medium brown head.

S - Massive hop aroma is noticeable before even putting the glass to my nose. Pine and grapefruit notes are present with lighter chocolate and roast flavours in the background.

T - Nice hop bitterness up front with greapefruit and pine flavours. The malt profile is very much secondary, adding some roast and chocolate in the finish. The hop profile definitely dominates this beer.

M - Medium body; somewhat creamy. Light carbonatoin.

A - Black with a fairly large, smooth, creamy, fluffy, cafe colored head. Good retention leaving a nice, sticky layer of lace.

S - Loads of sweet, creamy chocolate. Hints of grapefruit and sweet citrus. Notes of mocha. THe more I smell, the more ruby grapefruit aroma I get. A slight earthiness on the end.

T - SImilar flavors to the aromas. Sweet, creamy chocolate is front and center. A constant background of ruby grapefruit that bursts out mid sip. Subtle underlying earthiness and stale coffee grounds throughout. Finishes with a stronger mocha flavor along with a slight earthy and citrus rind bitterness.

M - Medium body with above average carbonation. Lively with a slightly spritzy finish.

D - Very drinkable stout. Alcohol is very well hidden. Great balance between sweet and bitter, dark stout flavors and hoppy goodness. I easily finished my bottle and enjoyed every last sip.

Notes: A very well done hoppy stout. Great job balancing the flavors. Hops are very present, particularly the grapefruit, but it is undeniably a stout as the sweet and earthy chocolate flavors are up front. Overall well done. Really nice beer that is worth a try.

thanks ryan for this!

pours jet black, rather thick for a 7.5% ABV. chewy looking body. light cocoa head.

sweet sugar, roasted malt, faint cherry and port.

sweet through out, roasted malt and dark chocolate kick in through the middle. some dark fruit, mainly light cherry begin to develop. through the finish a citrus hop flavor emerges. finishes sweet red grapefruit.

near perfect body. great thickness and chew. mild to moderate carbonation.

for the ABV, flavor, and overall awesomeness, seek this out

Presently, this is #22 in the American Stout category here on BA.

Haven't had anything bad by Revolution yet.

Served in an Elysian tulip.

A: Poured out a vicious, pitch black color (but don't most stouts worth half their salt though?) with a massive beige head that clung to the glass like a rat bastard from hell.

S: Wow! Lots of hops in there.... citrus even. Is this a black IPA? Lots of roasted malt, but no coffee or chocolate on the nose to speak of.

T: Okay, things have settled a bit not. Not as much pineapple going on here as was dictated by the nose. Still, no coffee to my palate. The roast was nice, as was the overall flavor. A bit of bitter cacao along with dark fruit and a hint of citrus.

M: The bitterness heated up the more sips I took, the lacing was absolutely ridiculous, and the carbonation was but a mere collection of anemic prickles.

O: Really good stuff from a brewery who I have a new found respect for every sip I take of their stuff.

A: Appears black in the glass. Forms a large, thick, and fairly stable mocha colored head that leaves a good bit of lacing on the way down.

S: Aroma is fairly hoppy for a stout, with notes of citrus and pine. However, it's not all about the hops either as there are aromas of charred malts and chocolate as well.

T: Taste is similar, but the malts are more dominant. Heavily roasted malts, dark chocolate, and coffee. Maybe a bit of char. Then there are the hops, mostly grapefruit and pine.

M: On the heavier side of medium. Medium carbonation. Dry and chalky on the finish.

O: A nice beer, one that showcases how hops can still play a dominant role in a stout.
