Poured from tap into a mug. Pours a lighter chocolate color with a small head.
Straight forward aromas of malts, grains, and chocolate.
Medium bodied, but on the lighter side of it. The feel is lacking on the mid and finish with flavors of chocolate and grains.
A solid schwarzbier. Not overly complex, but very drinkable and straight forward.

On-tap at Revolution. 5oz taster glass.
A - Persistent tan foam settles to a thin lace and nice lacing. Transparent dark chestnut brown body.
S - Served too cold unfortunately, but as it warms there's nutty and roasty flavors, a hint of cocoa, toasted bread, and a bit of earthiness. Even when warm it's a bit understated.
T - Very low sweetness, with toasted bread, and earthy hops flavors. Moderate bitterness in the finish but otherwise quite clean. I could have used a bit more sweetness.
M - High and slightly harsh carbonation. Medium-bodied with a nice heft for only 4.8%. Dry and fairly smooth lager finish.
D - The high CO2 is mildly irritating, as this is easy to drink otherwise. Otherwise it's a decent take on the style, but unfortunately it lacks the flavors and dimensions I look for in a schwarzbier.

Served in a tulip glass at the brewpub.
Lovely vows. If I had something that equated to a soul, tears might have thought about forming. As it is, I need a beer, so let's try out this little black number right here, shall we? It pours a dark-ish black-brown highlighted in sienna and topped by a finger of tan foam. The nose comprises mild roasted malts, orange zest, toasted wheat, and light sourdough. The taste brings in more of the same, with a touch more toast piled in there (just not by all that much). The body is a very light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a sorta/kinda dry finish. Overall, a nice little schwarzbier, one that I could see enjoying a few of here at the brewpub on any given day.

Served at the brewery in a fluted glass.
Brownish black with chestnut reddish hints in the light. Only a spotty bit of lace around the edges, thin layer of tan foam on the surface. Hoppy green aroma, light roast, mellow and well integrated. Flavors of earthy roast malt and firm hoppy bitterness, in the veIn of conifer trees, but something else too, keeping the palate guessing. Light coffee, dry bitter finish, but with a fine lager smoothness to it. Overall tasty and drinkable, would have liked a pint of it.
