Appearance - The beer poured a murky black color with modest level of bubbles crowning the glass.

Smell - The bourbon is apparent in the aroma. I do not detect much coffee in the aroma.

Taste - Coffee stays toward the front and is fairly nondescript. Bourbon is mild but present toward the back. The aftertaste is warm with sour apple qualities.

Mouthfeel - For a porter, I thought the beer was fairly thin. The beer is thick enough to linger and leave a sour impression.

Overall - While I like the beer, I was expecting a little more from this one.

wow! aroma takes me back to the Eclipse series..... lots of bourbon; sweet, sweet bourbon..... taste is the same- lots of bourbon, lots of flavor. very sweet. lots of alcohol burn although it isn't all that 'strong'.... when I poured it onto an already-half-filled glass it sizzled as if I were pouring acid onto it!! with an almost red hue to it, it appeared to 'eat away' at the head and fizzled until it was all gone.... amazing! thin enough to be very enjoyable; holds a taste expected of an 11% brew... very nice. reminds me of a thinner Merkin or DBA.

Appearance: No bubble show, but the mocha colored head builds upward and then fades back; the ebony colored liquid lets no light through

Smell: Bourbon, vanilla, oak and chocolate; a hint of dark fruit

Taste: Surprisingly fruity, up front, almost like a Baltic Porter, with some raisin and prune; it doesn't take long for the Bourbon and vanilla to arrive, bringing a touch of coconut; roasty and slightly oaky, after the swallow, with some alcohol warmth in the finish

Mouthfeel: Medium to full body with moderate carbonation;' some warmth in the gullet, but the beer is a bit thin for the style

Overall: Having really enjoyed Eugene on draft on a previous trip to Chicago, I was expecting to be really impressed by this beer; to my palate, however, the barrel treatment hasn't done as well as I would have hoped and the flavors don't harmonize as I would have liked
