Bean Gene is the first variation we did with our Mean Gene barrel-aged Eugene Porter.

After months socked away in bourbon barrels, we steeped it with Dark Matter coffee beans prior to bottling. Smooth and well-balanced, with hints of vanilla and an in-your-face coffee flavor, enjoy it at breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Props to MC51 for sending this my way via trade

A- pours a dark brown with a 1 finger dark tan head that settles around the edges

S- So enticing. Whiskey from the start, a vanilla bean, and delicate coffee notes. I am guessing the coffee is taking more of a backseat now that the bottle is nearly a year old. Some layers of chocolate step up. I am entranced by this aroma.

T/M- Terrific balance between the coffee, caramelized malts, chocolate, and barrel character. A little bit of a "meh" factor upon first taste, but then it finishes really strong. Bourbon is there, but in no way overpowering. Despite its somewhat thin body, it finds a way to coat the tongue well. I'd prefer it to be thicker, but a modest complaint

O- Man, 3rd brew I have had from Revolution (Straight Jacket and Unsessionable are the others), and all have been outstanding. The nose on this one is filthy. Flavor is maybe a step or 2 below, but really nice balance. Give this one time to warm up.

Bottle in trade. Thanks! Pours black into the glass with a one finger mocha head. Aroma of lots of spicy earthy coffee, bourbon, a bit of roast and fruits, more bourbon. Not much oak or vanilla coming from the barrel integration here, mainly just straight bourbon. Flavor is lots of coffee, some sweet chocolate, big bourbon punch, lingering oak and light vanilla roasted coffee. Medium body with medium carbonation. Not super hot but very bourbon forward flavor here. Gotta like the stuff to like this and it's a bit over the top. Beer really isn't carrying the barrel well.
