Bean Gene is the first variation we did with our Mean Gene barrel-aged Eugene Porter.
After months socked away in bourbon barrels, we steeped it with Dark Matter coffee beans prior to bottling. Smooth and well-balanced, with hints of vanilla and an in-your-face coffee flavor, enjoy it at breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Taste: sweet, vanilla, smooth, cocoa, malty, big bourbon boozy woody notes with a hint of coffee. Same with the nose. Black/brown hue, semi clear, tan head delicate lace. Medium full body. Warming. Had many years ago.

Deep, black color with a firm finger of head in the snifter.
Both sweet and hot smells of bourbon and oak, and some peppery coffee notes behind that. Smells like Jim Beam actually.
Rush of coffee, vanilla, cinnamon, oak, bourbon, chocolate, and alcohol. Man, it's good. I can't emphasize enough how good this beer tastes.
Feel is creamy, thick, smooth, yet still properly carbonated. Dry, boozy finish.
So I wasn't expecting the awesomeness contained in this bottle. Eugene is a solid porter, I guess I figured I'd be tasting some vanilla-coffee infused Eugene. What I got was an incredible beer completely set apart from Eugene. This should easily be world-class. Wow.

Incredibly carbonated, smell is a mixture of coffee bourbon, and metal. Taste was slightly coffee and chocolate which was overwhelmed by tart cherries. Obviously an infected bottle. Super disappointing.

22oz bottle poured into a snifter
2014 vintage, I believe
Pours dark brown/black color with small foamy off-white head. Smells of coffee, roasted malt & chocolate. Tastes of coffee laced with cocoa & vanilla, earthy wood, a bit of dark fruit on the finish. Medium body with low carbonation, foamy mouthfeel and finish. Nice barrel notes throughout
