Our Hugene, an Imperial Porter, aged in bourbon barrels for 20 months. This complex beer has an initial caramel flavor & sweetness upfront that slowly melts away right before the tidal wave of chocolate malt character. (12% ABV // 60 IBU)

Served at the brewery in a small snifter. Jet black, creamy mocha surface foam, lasts after first few sips. Good retention considering the high abv.

Deep aromas of caramel, chocolate, vanilla, toasted marshmallow, dried dark fruit.

Big chocolate and caramel flavors, vanilla, oak tannin, light coffee. Creamy chewy viscous, rich and chocolatey. Nice and smooth Woodford presence, well integrated with a little bit of heat. Liquid chocolate bourbon caramel confection. A fine experience.

2016 vintage; had at Revolution's Taproom on 8/16/21.

Black appearance.

Small dark tan head; decent lace.

Fresh earth, baker's chocolate, blackberry & oak notes in the nose.

Thick, creamy mouthfeel.

Fudge, blackberry & oak flavors up front; cream, mild fresh earth & faint bourbon notes on the finish.

Complex & rather delicious, even after 5 years! Noice!!

Had on tap. Indeed big caramel and chocolate waves crash onto the palate immediately, with coffee, vanilla, roasted malt, oak, and creamy dark fruits following. Bourbon is constant throughout, especially in smell. Very smooth and creamy, tranquil even. body is so developed you forget it is a porter some sips.

11/17/18 (Chicago): 2 oz pour into FOBAB taster glass. Dark black pour, strong and pleasant roast coffee aroma. Strong coffee taste, whiskey masked and emerges after warming. Slightly creamy, easy smooth drinking Overall very good pour, my final at 2018 FOBAB.
