Notes & Commercial Description:
Beer added by: MasterSki on 02-03-2013

This traditional German-style lager was brewed back in October and emits a beautiful auburn hue with deep, rich layers of caramel and toasted flavor notes. German Magnum and Select hops used in the brew kettle provide a balanced bitterness to a malt-dominant style.

On-tap at the Revolution brewpub. 5oz taster filled to the brim.

A - Hard to comment on head volume, but there was a thin collar and some wisps on top but no lacing. Transparent amber-brown body.

S - Bready, with light caramel, nuts, and banana, a bit spicy actually. Toasted grains, and a somewhat unexpected phenolic yeast character that I'd expect more from a dunkelweizen than a doppelbock.

T - The taste is more stylistically accurate, with with lots of bread, touches of roast, nuts, cocoa, and faint fruitiness. Mildly bitter and lightly smokey finish.

M - Smooth medium body, with lower carbonation. Hearthy and bready, with no obvious alcohol.

D - Decent, but nothing particularly exciting. The aroma was understated and a bit strange, but otherwise this was OK. Haven't been overly impressed with Revolution's lagers so far.

Served up on tap at the Kedzie brewery. Quick review from notes.

Sanguine look, still and glassy, deep saturated copper brown color. Very little lace to speak of, a microscopic amount really.

Nutty toasted malt aromas, smooth and subdued, not much else.
Similar flavors, more nutty malts dominating with a pretty smooth feel. Dry aftertaste, substantial feel. Had about three of the small glasses, so it was imminently drinkable, in the words of the late and venerable Mr. Michael Jackson.

Served at the 3rd year crazy party paired with a delicious beef skewer.

Infiltrator doppelbock

A: dark brown red, clear, collar of head some lacing 4

S: mild malty aroma with notes of toffee, hints of smoke, mild grainy sweetness 4.25

T: clean malty flavors, dry for style, light sweetness, reminds me more of a scotch ale 4

Mf: light, mod carb 4

O: nice clean, not as sweet as I expect for style, reallly comes off more like a scotch ale than a doppelbock 4
