A very solid beer but not a stunner. Looks gorgeous. Rather light in color, almost lager-like. I can barely get a scent though - is it a bit past its prime? The mouthfeel is light but highly carbonated - the feel of big summer guzzler. The taste is fine but somewhat muted. A light hoppy beer but in a blind taste test I might call it a pale ale. (346 characters)

22oz bottle from Binny's Beverage Depot (Chicago, IL). 7.99. No bottle date. Served in a Three Floyds teku.

Pours deep gold with about two fingers of pillowy pale head that shrinks to a thin layer and leaves large sheets of lace.

Smells citrusy and floral. Grapefruit, mango, peach and flowers.

The taste delivers on the nose. Mango, peach, grapefruit, rind, pine, flower petals, dried biscuit, faint caramel, pepper and grass.

Medium body, slightly oily with moderate carbonation. Only mildly bitter floral finish with the malts showing up a little more towards the end.

A solid, if not outstanding, IPA. It has some nice citrus notes but falls a bit short on both bitterness and malts for my tastes. Still, I'd drink it again and it went down smoothly enough that I had no problem finishing the bomber myself. (821 characters)

the smell is classic galaxy they bright citrus nose anytime grass

the flavors are but mine for IPA just a light bit of Brady caramel malt touch of Citrus Heights but lacking in the bitterness I would expect in the style.

the mouth feels a bit send just a touch of resume on file.

overall it's a pretty decent night PA nice feature of the tremendous galaxy house could use just a touch more to really be excellent. (465 characters)

650 mL poured into a Teku snifter.

Appearance - Golden yellow. Clear. Small white head. Retains well.

Smell - Nice citrus hop. Grapefruit. Orange. A little bit of grain.

Taste - Less impressive. More sweetness comes through. More grapefruit than orange hop. Grain very prominent. Medium bitterness.

Mouthfeel - Medium body. Medium carbonation. Drinks easily.

Overall - Better aroma than taste. Smells like a double but tastes like a single IPA. (450 characters)

A solid IPA, with lovely complex grapefruit orange tangerine citrus taste. Very drinkable. Carbonation is right there. Bg IBU but not a palate eraser. Bottle from 20 West Side Wine and Spirits. Slightly orange colour, good retained head. Some bubblegum. (253 characters)

Awesome label art here, can't wait to try it. Appearance is a clear golden, identical to Anti Hero with layer of white head and decent lacing. The nose is more lemony than Anti Hero with less pine and bitterness. The malt profile comes through pretty strong with dry bread and graham cracker. The nose isn't as aromatic as its counterpart which makes it slightly less appealing. The taste is light on bitterness and heavy on fruity galaxy hops. It seems as if the hop schedule for Anti Hero just works better for the grain bill as the Galaxy just seems to lack depth in this instance. Still an enjoyable and drinkable IPA. Moderate body with appropriate carbonation. Overall, tasty, just not as good as Anti-Hero. (713 characters)

Gold color with a bit of haze. Good starting head that leaves an initial rim of lace.

Grapefruit rind and raw bitter hop are the predominant smells.

Decent malt base but the rest is straight bitterness. Full bodied with a low carbonation level. (248 characters)

Sample poured at the Kedzie brewery on Saturday, 6 September 2014.

Pours clear golden with a small white head. Not much carbonation. Smell is nice, grassy, a little spicy, but muted.

Taste is honey and flowers and bitter pine -- tends toward sweet.

Mouthfeel is medium and slick. Overall, this is a quite tasty beer. (319 characters)

Clean tasting ipa. Not a lot of bitterness. Hints of citrus and tropical fruits but balanced with the dry malt backbone. Super easy drinking, very light aroma. It's good. (170 characters)

22oz bottle poured into a tulip. Pours a transparent golden with a slight hazy; nice fluffy white head that leaves good lacing and retention. The aromas have a nice amount of sweet mango, melon, pineapple, orange peel, lemon zest. There's a touch of garlic/onion, but barely. Not much malt detected, although there are subtle hints of caramel malt. The flavors are very crisp. Lots of grapefruit, lemon, and tons of pine needles. The flavors are good, but they're one dimensional and doesn't have a whole lot of depth, in my opinion. This one is definitely on the drier side. The mouthfeel is on the lighter side of medium-bodied and has active carbonation. The alcohol goes unnoticed and it's very refreshing. It becomes tastier the more you drink it.

This is a really nice IPA. It's right there with Anti-Hero. This is crisp and refreshing. Very fun to drink. Well done. (873 characters)

Bought from Binnys in Des Plaines.

The look is nice, a solid orange with a decent head and some lacing, deeper dark center in th core of the beer.

The smell is interesting, it has a taffy like malt edge mixed with more of a fruity and herbal edge, no pine or citrus rind to speak of, more of an English style hop presence that I have noticed from the galaxy hop variety, it's nice and warmer than a normal American made ipa.

The taste follows suit, it has a very earthy herbal slightly bitter edge to it with some some sweeter malt notes to it that have a little bit of alcohol sweetness to it somehow, even at the semi low abv. It has some tangerine flavor to it too after a minute, it's more of a sweet tangerine instead of a harsh citrus blast. Mouthfeel is solid, good carbonation proper body.

A nice flavor, but I prefer the American bitter hop varietal hoppy beers better for my palate, but this is very intresting and unique. (939 characters)

22 oz bottle was poured into a pint glass.

Appearance: A one finger head was poured that reduced to a thin layer. It is a pale yellow orange color with great clarity and vision of bubbles coming up through the glass. Spotty lacing down the glass as the beer was drank.

Smell: Herbal, grassy, light citrus, and spicy hops followed by toasted, biscuity, and caramel malts.

Taste: Same hop flavor as I smelled with a biscuity, chewy, caramel malts, and medium bitterness in the rear.

Mouthfeel: Smooth, chewy, light bitterness, refreshing, medium carbonation, and light to medium bodied.

Overall: A nice IPA. Not really getting as much hop flavor as everyone else, but still enjoyable. Wouldn't mind trying out on draft next time around. (755 characters)

Bottle. Pours a clear, dark honey color. Frothy, uneven head. Consistent lacing. Galaxy and Zythos hops. I just had the regular Anti Hero from Revolution, so let's see what these hops do to differentiate themselves. Zesty, tsemi-tropical fruit hops. I am pretty with the aroma of Galaxy and have no experience with Zythos. The very distinct Galaxy scent is detectable but it's clearly blended with other varietals. Fruit medley and herbal hops. Some slightly sweet apricot and pineapple. Some airy, pale malt sweetness. Flavor is mixture of tropical fruit hop, grassy hop, candied malt, and some sneaky bitterness. Many fruity notes to pick out. Malt doesn't overpower the hop showcase. Medium bodied. Bitterness really roars a couple seconds after each sip. No complaints here. (778 characters)

A: pours amber in color with a 2 finger milky white head. Head has good retention some nice lacing.

S: lots of nice fruity hop aromas going on here. Notes of tangerine and guava. Very tropical. Mangos and pineapple follow with undertones of malt.

T: a little malt upfront and then the hops hit. Lots of bitterness on the palate. Citrus on the exhale with some grass laced in between.

M: moderate carbonation. Nice oily feel from the hops lets the bitterness stay on the palate for a good amount of time.

O: galaxy hops give lost of nice tropical fruit aromas. Good bitterness and some of the tropical flavors pull through on the exhale. Solid ipa from a solid brewery. (674 characters)

Sampled from a 22oz bottle I picked up during a recent visit to Chicago.

Golden and quite clear with a smallish head of large bubbles. Some lacing. Aroma is tropical fruit. Flavor follows with some citrus added in. There's much more hop flavor than bitterness. Nice variety. Slightly thin with a moderately high carbonation.

Very nice! (337 characters)

Glowing bright sunny orange, frothy with a compact layer of foam on the surface, delicate lace adheres to the glass. Coverage is pretty good, settles to a broken skim halfway through.

Citrusy grapefruit pith, floral hop oils, pungent hoppiness though slightly restrained.

Bittersweet hoppiness, citrus zest and greenery, orange sweetness flashes by, with lingering resiny hop bitterness in the aftertaste. Light to medium bodied with ample carbonation. Tasty and very drinkable. (481 characters)

Appearance: Pours a beautiful, clear golden yellow with two fingers of frothy off-white foam.

Smell: Lots of resiny pine with light notes of citrus fruits and pineapple.

Taste: Follows the nose with big, bitter pine and acidic citrus (mainly grapefruit and orange) with a faint caramel malt backbone.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied and crisp with a smooth finish.

Overall, this was a pretty good IPA but nothing spectacular. It's a very bitter beer that lacks complexity but it's tasty nonetheless and surprisingly smooth. (520 characters)

Pours a clear rich golden color with a nice white head. Has sporadic carbonation bubbles rising from the bottom. Smells of fresh citrus and passion fruit. Has a underlying hoppiness to it as well. Really pleasant fresh aroma! The taste is that of a typical American IPA. Does have a little citrus fruitiness to it and has a good malty feel. Hops are prevalent and leave a nice lingering bitter finish. Overall this galaxy hero was no superman or batman but a solid green lantern! I'd reccomend it for sure, not the best IPA but a solid choice! (543 characters)

Poured from 22oz bomber into imperial pint glass with a nice 2 inch head color is a nice golden delicious looking brew.

Aroma is fantastic I absolutely love it (galaxy hop!?!) It’s a lovely floral and citrus smell.

Mouthfeel is medium carb and body is medium-light

Taste is a bit of piney, resinous hops with a crisp, slightly bitter finish that lingers for a bit.

Overall this is a solid IPA. The aroma really had my hopes up but taste didn’t match, but still really enjoying it. Not sure id buy another bomber as a beer really needs to be outstanding to warrant buying at bomber price (597 characters)

Reviewed from notes taken from whenever. Audit me. See if I care.

A: Pours a clear, golden color. There is an off-white head which fades quickly to a spotty cap.

S: A sharp citrus/pine aroma with some herbal notes. Orange peel and a hint of caramel.

T: Pine is potent but not as sharp as in the aroma. Citrus is present but subdued and joined by a little bit of peach. The finish is a lingering herbal flavor. Mild alcohol flavor as the drink warms in the glass.

M: Medium bodied with sharp, foamy carbonation.

O: Great beer. Bitter, fruity, crisp. A step up from the regular Anti-hero. (632 characters)

Thanks to fiver29, who should have a much higher number to reflect his status as a Cy Young-level trader. He's sent me my first real tastes of Revolution, which I've been looking forward to. 22 oz. bomber split with my wife on a normally alcohol-free Sunday night. But hey, no work tomorrow! Yeeeehaaa!

Pour is filtered orange-red, mostly clear, like a sunbeam stuck in the glass. The sunbeam smells like good hops: orange, or mango, or something that keeps morphing into a tropical mixed-use orchard with a lot of squashed fruit. Plus an underlying sweetness that doesn't distract from the hops; kind of like a good bra. I like it.

Galaxy-Hero makes me want get up & raise a fist in the air: viva la Revolution! The same fruit bushel from the nose is embracing my palate vigorously. The bitterness comes close behind, & I can feel it right between my two front teeth, flaying the skin on the top of my mouth. The sting is good. The finish is a mild sweetness, florals, a blade or two of grassiness. Lovely slickness that's simultaneously drying, easy to drink.

Very good that tips over into excellent, this is easy to drink, tasty, complex, & bitter. What more would you want? Too many breweries are popping up with half-assed IPAs. None of that going on here. Lovely beer. (1,279 characters)

A: A surprisingly clear deep yellow-amber in color. Forms a sizable, fluffy, white head that sticks around for a while. Good retention. Moderate lacing.

S: Aroma is quite pleasant. Given that this is hopped with Galaxy, it is unsurprisingly citrus forward, with lots of sweet orange notes. Tangerine and clementine. A slight hint of floral.

T: The taste is similar, but the sweetness is not as pronounced. Orange, orange pith, and even a touch of lemon. The finish is herbal, bordering on medicinal.

M: Medium bodied. Medium carbonation. The bitterness is mild; quite restrained actually, but there is an unpleasant oily, resiny quality to the beer that only develops a good minute or so after the swallow.

O: Overall, this is a very nice beer. I'm a fan of Galaxy hops and this beer showcases them nicely. (813 characters)

My friend Chris shared this one, and it was split three ways. Thanks Chris! Bottled on date of 4/2/13, so it's just about three weeks old. Poured from a 22 oz. bomber into my 7venth Sun tulip glass.

A - Pours a clear goldenrod color, with a full two fingers of head. After a couple minutes in the glass, it fizzles away to a small cap of foam. Not a whole lot of lacing.

S - Sweet & tropical fruits abound, such as pineapple juice. A bit of mango or fruit cocktail syrup as well. This smells incredibly fresh & juicy.

T - A nice tropical character, with some lemony sweetness as well. A bit of grassy or piney hop character to add some nice complexity. A nice amount of bitterness at the back end after the sweetness is left behind.

M - Medium-bodied and a nice amount of carbonation. Leaves an appealing sticky residue on the lips and inside of the mouth.

O - I think I may like the regular Anti-Hero a little better, but this is still a great beer. The galaxy hops really shine through, but I think it may be to the detriment of the beer's balance. (1,055 characters)
