A prolonged repose in bourbon-soaked American oak barrels adorns a dark chocolate profile with notes of toasted coconut and vanilla. A rich, supple texture belies the unholy power of our imperial oatmeal stout.

Deep brown colour, large dark brown head that fizzes out very loudly. Smell is potent bourbon and chocolate, taste is the same with less chocolate presence. Little to no bitterness. Feel is too thin for a 14.8% stout, let alone an oatmeal one. Good, great even, but nothing beyond anything I've already tasted.

2023 Batch! Baker's chocolate, a hint of vanilla, a hint of chocolate covered raisins, and a bourbon barrel nose on this one! Taste follows exactly with a bourbon barrel boozy finish. This is more medium-bodied than I like my barrel-aged stouts, but it starts to feels softer on the palate as it warms. Good!

2021 vintage (I'm assuming this isn't the "limited" version, which has little information with it). Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing opaque black in the glass with a thin khaki head that dissipates to sparse patches with slight lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, bourbon, bakers chocolate and a hint of vanilla; boozy. Flavor is dark toasted malt with light char, bourbon, bakers chocolate, dates and a little oak and coffee in the finish. Bourbon chocolate and a hint of caramel in the finish. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. I was expecting a big, rich bourbon stout and was not disappointed. There was definite alcohol in the aroma, but the dense malt and flavor covered it in the taste, although it is quite warming. Great bourbon barrel character. Fleeting flavors of caramel and dark fruit appear during the taste and finish to make things interesting. A fine barrel aged stout that deserves its high reputation. Massive ABV requires patient sipping.

Revolution Deth's Tar BBA Imperial Oatmeal Stout, 14.8% ABV. Pours thick and black with a ring of light-brown bubbles. Nose is chocolate, coconut, and bourbon. Taste follows, plus vanilla, quite sweet, faintly bitter. Excellent mouthfeel, overall world-class.
