Very dark brown pour that yields a jet-black and dark mocha brew. A more substantial creamy head than a normal BA beer. Has the revolution bourbon aroma that all their barrel beers have - artificial sweetener, oaky vanilla, some caramel. There is some ash, burnt coffee beans, and very dark chocolate. The taste similar to the nose - heavily roasted coffee, dark chocolate and sweetener vanilla - some oak tannins. As with all BA revolution beers, the mouthfeel is a bit thin.
A nice beer that lacks richness

A lot of times a pour is the darkest brown which some may call black, but in this case I believe nothing but black evil was poured. Beautiful two and a half inch head and I could of aggravated more. Deep mahogany merengue head ebbs to a half inch cappuccino froth. Elegance personified.
Aroma of milk chocolate, vanilla, oak and the bourbon has such a persuasiveness. Marshmallow and sweet almond milk.
Again a most gentle bright bourbon influencing cocoa. More of bitterness performs in dark cocoa and nibs. Some coffee influence in the stoutish characteristic. More milk lactose becomes evident ie. FFF Moloko. Some metallic overtones exist- not sure where this comes from, maybe from the alcohol in the bourbon. Not fond of the metallic aftertaste as I find it a distracting.
Medium mouthfeel. Creamy texture and a bit chewy. As it warms, bourbon tones kick in full force with extreme oakiness and the cocoa get more bitter.
Appearance and aroma are really top tier among many. Bourbon, lactose sweetness and cocoa bitterness actually become exasperating for me. I know bourbon barrel aging is an expensive endeavor. Not a bad try but at almost $20 I would have to pass on-sorry, not really. Get it together mannn! Good not gr8.

650 mL bottle poured into a snifter.
Appearance - Leggy and viscous black. Decent khaki head. Medium collar.
Smell - Sharp whiskey aroma. Dark chocolate. Some vanilla and oak.
Taste - Lots of vanilla. Chocolate. Bourbon builds up and eventually dominates. Oaky flavor lingers int he finish.
Mouthfeel - Boozy and extremely oaky. Medium high carbonation, like every other Revolution beer.
Overall - Nice whiskey. Decent stout, but overwhelmed by the barrel.
