First stop on the recent CTA pub Crawl. I can’t believe I have waited so long for a visit.

The rectangular bar is straight ahead as you enter the brewpub. There is a lounge area to your left and some stairs for the elevated area off to your right. The kitchen is slightly elevated open for viewing. The tanks are visible behind glass.
The interior designer gets a nod in my book. The bar has large wooden forearms & fists holding up the top half. The clenched fist is Revolutions signature. They incorporated wooden barrel staves in one of the walls. In addition, there are some stained glass windows near the brewing area and lots of wood and brick. The front windows open up to the street.

The food is very good and worth a visit in its own right. Try the chili, the pork belly sandwich or order the biscuits & gravy (made with Italian sausage) off the weekend brunch menu.

The beer is the real deal here. Lots of styles and choices. I had a refreshing wit, a well-made Czech Pilsner and a tasty Irish Dry Stout. They also offer a well thought out guest tap list and a pretty massive bottle list. Prices are very fair at $5.00 for house pints.

Service is friendly and has good beer knowledge. I also got to chat with the brewer for 10 minutes or so. He was very enthusiastic about the direction they are heading (expanding the upstairs and a new stand-alone production brewery). I have to agree with him as everything was top-notch during my visit.

I will be returning soon!

Place was packed at 7 on a Monday. Got the only seat at the bar. Loud environment from conversation. 16 of their own beers on tap plus a solid selection of bottles and cans. Draft prices started at $5 a pint up to $7 a snifter for the high abv brews

Nice place with a long bar and lots of seating. Bartenders were friendly and pretty knowledgeable about the beers. Selection was pretty eclectic and there seemed to be something for everyone.

Always enjoy a trip to Revolution. Well above average food and a great beer selection. My only complaint is that the service is regularly spotty.

Rev is really knocking it out of the park right now with their culinary program. There seriously wasn't one item on the menu I didn't want to try. They keep a solid guest bottle list. While most of Rev's beer is brewed at the Kedzie facility, there are some options that make it onto the tap list which were brewed there at the restaurant. I do wish they had a rotating BA selection on tap, however. The wait here can be maddening on a weekend, but this is a great weeknight dinner spot.

Too crowded but the food and beer are on point. It's a good place for a date if you're dating 11 guys.

I hate to say "this place used to be cool," but, well ... It's not Revolution's fault, it's the crowd that's decided to flock to this place. If you can make it there during "off-hours" it's an awesome place for good beer and good food, but more often than not, the place is crowded with a mix of yuppies, hipsters, and bros. Sadly, as with most gentrification, the bros are starting to take over. They always have a dozen or so beers available with a mix of mainstays, seasonal, limited release, experiments, and usually one, if not two, cask conditioned taps. The food is very high level - not your typical bar food - put together with a culinary touch. The servers are always friendly and knowledgeable. They have two TVs, but are rarely turned on except for important Chicago sporting events. The ambiance is driven primarily by alternative and indie tunes.

Fantastic and popular brewpub, have loved seeing these guys expand and develop over time. The food is excellent and their tap lineup is usually stellar - always go in on the Eugene Porter if they have it on.

This place is awesome. If the fact that this is a Brewpub separate from the brewery turns you off... Change your opinion. This place is great.

Best newer brewery to the ChiTown area. A must stop when I'm town. Great beers. Try the line of Hero bombers.

Great place, though not easy to get to if you're staying in the loop or along the lakeshore. Often very busy. The service is fairly good, the food is fairly good, the ambience is great (if you don't mind crowds) and very Chicago. A number of offerings on tap, usually, but not as many as one might wish.

Could be in a better location but it once you get inside the brewery is really something else. The taproom is massive with a very high ceiling but still had a homey kind of feel to it. There is tons of seating, lots of beer to choose from, and a shuffleboard table! Staff was very friendly.

This review is for the brewery taproom.
Visited on a Friday night. Lots of people around for a fun and vibrant scene. You enter through a nondescript door on the side of the brewery building that you could miss if you blink at the wrong time. Go up some stairs and around a corner and enter into a massive taproom. Big bar, lots and lots of tables and the full-on industrial vibe. The best part: Those 16 taps of great beer. Bottles and cans and swag available as well.
The service was excellent. No food served at the taproom but the barkeeps are very helpful and provide flyers from nearby places that deliver to the taproom. That led us to some excellent pizza.
I asked for a flight of their limited beers and said a I wasn't afraid to "go big." Three of the 4 beers in my flight were around 10%. All were excellent. Well done.
Lots of nice touches here: Love the water station prominently placed and the cheesy slasher flick on the screens.
The beers were just great. love this place.

Amazing food, some of the best beer Chicago has to offer. They always have some good barrel aged beers. If Revolution isn't your thing they have a good bottle list too.

Another fine brewery to make room for in your pub crawl. Food has been very good each time we have made the journey. Beer is really good, Anti-Hero is outstanding, as it will stand up to many of the crazy hoppy beers.

Very nice atmosphere, selection of the beers, and bottle menu is always very nice. Good merch selection, service has usually been very attentive, one time a worker was a little pre-occupied, but did seem to recognize us, so not a biggy.

I've visited RevBrew's brewpub every trip to Chicago for the last three years and have always been impressed with the beer selection, food quality and atmosphere. It gets a bit over stuffed at peak hours and the bar design is a bit awkward, but you quickly forget about that once you are seated and the beers start coming. Very cool place.

Went here a few months ago. Went for the beer of course.... surprised by the food. Simply put, food was great. Apps are awesome as well as main dishes. Would go back here in a heartbeat. The Belgian Anniversary Ale was exceptional. I'm not a huge Belgian fan, but this was tough to beat. This place features all the usual Revolution options, plus a few offerings that are hard to find. Well done.

I've visited the revolution brewpub only once and here is my 2-cents:

The place itself is very nice, large main bar and the decor and atmosphere are both modern and upbeat. It was very crowded the day that I went (saturday afternoon) but I didn't have to wait too long for a seat at the bar.

I think the quality speaks for itself here, the reason that most locals will say that revolution is a great brewery is because the line up us very good, both year round and seasonal. Besides the year-round and seasonal offerings they had coffee eugene on cask, which was excellent, and boy gene, barrel aged eugene with boysenberries which was also pretty awesome and unexpected.

Service is where this place gets a knock from me. Upon entering I realized how busy it was so I tried to put my name in for a table, there were four of us, but had more coming. They would not seat us at a table large enough even with a wait until everyone in my group was there and wouldn't even put down the table for 8 I needed on the waitlist. I was going to wait at least an hour for the table, by which point we all would have been there but still my explanation fell on deaf ears. In the service and hospitality industry I've come to expect better service than that, and to top it off the hostess was pretty rude about the whole thing. Other than that, the service at the bar was excellent, I didn't have to wait long for a beer and the bartenders were pretty friendly even though they were swamped.

Selection, like I mentioned was good. Their whole year round line up was available, along with seasonals, and a few one offs that you could only get on tap. Imo, thats how it should always be at a brew pub or brewery tap room, I should wait and pay a premium to be able to sample more than just their regular line-up, and revolution delivered that on my visit there.

Didn't end up eating there, so no opinion on the food but I've heard from close friends that it's pretty good.

Value was as expected, the beers were reasonably priced and there was no sticker shock for a pour of the boy gene, which was barrel aged.

Overall, I like revolution beers and I like their brewpub as well. I want to go back and try their food since I've heard good things about it and will certainly go there just for the beer if I'm near there.

First and foremost, if you're going on a Friday or Saturday night, expect to wait a bit, this place gets packed. But if its always this busy, they must be doing something right.

Atmosphere is kind of hipster - grunge. Overall, the furnishings are pretty upscale for a place that looks like and is similarly lit to most garages. The service has always been solid, nothing stellar, but nothing terrible, and typically very friendly. Revolution typically has their current releases on draft, as well a few brewpub only beers. Beer prices are reasonable, and they offer small glasses and flights if you want to try a few things.

Food is outstanding. The menu is mostly typical bar food (wings, pizza, burgers, fish and chips), but everything they make is great. The food is usually more of a highlight than the beer IMO.

Overall Revolution is reasonably priced, has good service, good beer and great food. If you're in the north side of Chicago, check out the brewpub, its worth the visit. They also sell glassware, apparel and other branded warez in the front.

Cheers!

I went into Revolution for the first time last week with one of my buddies. I really enjoyed the experience. We each had three drinks a piece. The bar was packed, so we had to take a temporary seat at a table before we were able to snag a spot closer to the taps. This didn't bother us, however, since we were able to get a closer extended view of the beautiful small scale brewery displayed behind a large class wall in the back. Shortly after we sat down we were able to glance at the menu, though didn't get around to ordering any food. It all looked delicious however, and many of the dishes on the menu suggested beer pairings.

When we were finally able to move to the bar, the experience got even better. The center island is held up by 4 wooden columns shaped like 'power fists' (if you are familiar with Revolution you will know this is their logo). The bartenders were great, and I never had a bad pour. At the end, we decided to get a growler for the road. It was filled on foam and heat sealed.

All in all I will definitely be going back. I'm sure I'll be bringing back more than just the one growler I left with!

After a trip to Wreck-less on record store day and and a mega burger from Kumas a friend and I stopped into Revolution for a couple pints. The place was busy on a Saturday afternoon with the bar being full and tables filled up. After grabbing a beer menu a few spots opened up at the bar so we sat quickly and ordered our first round. They had a cask of double fist dry hopped w/ crystal so of course I had to go with that. Very bright and flavorful, couldn't have asked for a better beer at that moment.

The place didn't have much character to it, you could see there fist logo all over and there brewing system in the back of the building behind a glass wall. Other then that it was kind of generic. The service was prompt and courteous. after our first round we got another. this time a Belgian pale ale dry hopped with citra (tastey but it got better as it warmed up).

The selection was about 13 deep with all of there main stays and a few I've never seen before. In all that beer was fresh and tasty the prices where average but the atmosphere was meh. Good place to stop if you're in the neighborhood.

Not understanding the check amount. For that amount of money I should have been full. Kinda loud. I'm old and don't like that amount of noise. Server could care less about waiting on us. Expected more than got. We will try it again and will leave another review.
