I bought a 6 pack of these at the Jewel/Osco store in Glendale Heights, IL for $6.99. It's been awhile since I had a Red Stripe and I didn't even know they made a Red Stripe Light. They come in 11.2oz brown bottles and have the design pained on the bottle rather than using a glued on label. No freshness or born on date.

The beer poured a clear but pale gold color and made a ton of fizzy white head. My glass had over 4 fingers of foam to it and it lasted a little over 2 minutes. No lacing stuck to the glass while the head was receding, but as I started drinking it i could see lots of thin lace hug the sides of the glass with each sip.

This had a green grape/white wine smell to it. Not a bad smell, but not very beer-like.

This tastes more like a wine cooler than a beer. Sweet and fruity is the best way to describe it, with no hop presence at all.

The mouthfeel is light, crisp, and refreshing with medium high carbonation. No complaints with the mouthfeel.

With the low 3.6% abv. there is no taste of alcohol at all in here, so they're really easy to down. The problem I have with it is that it's not really very beer-like.

I poured this beer into a glass from a short stubby bottle, just like the Red Stripe Lager. Now, the picture looks different from what I drank from.

This beer is very, very, very Drinkable. Too Drinkable.

Pours into a glass a very pale yellow color. Little to no head, whatsoever, and doesn't have a impressive smell.

The taste is almost nothing, but it is better than regular light beers. Its around 120 something calories, so it's not like a Bud Select 55. So at least there is some taste in this beer.

The thing about this beer is that you can pound this one, and fast. It's a beer that I see myself having at hot summer parties, when I'm done mowing the lawn, or when I on the beach (Jamaica)

Now, I did enjoy this beer, it is a good light beer. Not a excellent beer, but still a decent summer brew. I would buy this over Corona.

Another pale fizzy lager, this one is a light straw golde color with heavy streaming carbonation. White head forms thick at first and dwindles quickly down to nothing. Thin speckled lacing not much an eye candy appeal here. Aroma has a grainy cooked vegetable grassy tone to it. Slightly metallic tone going on as well it's really hard to describe because there's not much there. Flavor is light crisp malt sweetness with some harsh grassy herbal tones blended with a metallic finish. Mouthfeel is ligt on the palate but carbonation is really heav for some reason, definitely force carbonated. Drinkabilit overall is an average light lager, it's hard to complain about I know it would be refreshing if in the caribbean, but I'd much rather stick to the original.

Big white head slowly settles into a pretty decent lacing above a clear straw golden colored beer.

Sour grains and light corn syrup aroma with maybe a hint of hops.

Sour taste of corn syrup and light grains with maybe a slight bitter hops hint hiding in there.

A very light dry aftertaste on this light bodied affair.

I'll pass on ever intentionally drinking this again.

Beer Review #4 of my cruise on Royal Caribbean's Navigator of the Seas, May 15-22, 2004.

Purchased for my girlfriend just before returning to the boat in Ocho Rios, Jamaica.

Very, very pale yellow in color, even lighter than most standard ginger ales. Familiar and unoffending to the masses, but completely lacking in pretty much every way to me.

Not much to it, but it's par for the course with light beers, and I might even prefer it to the standard American macros.

Poured a light golden colored with bright white 2 finger head.. Actually left a bit of lacing on the glass.

Smelled very sweet..maybe picking up some malts, grain? No hop detection.. Overall light scent not offensive though..

Taste: very very light. Again semi sweet.. Grainy, cooked veggies? Little malts.. Finishes with a slight metallic taste.. Semi dry finish..

Mf is light carbonation.. Light bodied..

Easy to drink but nothing too great..

Appearance: Pours a very pale foamy color, however I'm disappointed about the lack of foam in this compared to regular Red Stripe once the beer settles. Average to good bubbles.

Smell: Not nearly as sugary as its brother, but I still detect some sweetness. A fairly malty beer for this style. It's mostly just cooked grain. Overall, I'm happy though.

Taste/Mouthfeel: Grain malts with a bit of a metallic (though not unpleasant) aftertaste. Feels kind of watery and leaves a thick, sour aftertaste.

Drinkability: Not that far off from Red Stripe, which is above average.

Overall: Stick with regular Red Stripe.

11.2 oz bottle into Wisconsin Brewer's Beer Fest mug.

A: Thin white head, with a light lemon yellow body. Carbonation is present. Small amount of lacing is present.

S: A slightly bold aroma for this light brew. I could not say that I could pick between the light and traditional Red Stripe, from the aroma. A nice bready, deep lager aroma.

T: A bit sweet on the front, which finishes with a very grainy taste. The taste for this brew is not one of its strong suits.

M: Clean on the palate, but the taste does not linger for long, I cannot determine whether that is a good or bad thing.

D: Great for warm weather, a crisp beer. Typical for a light beer, but this one does stand above many others.

11.2oz bottle

A- Short and stubby 11.2oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Pours a pale golden yellow color with a fizzy white head.

S- The aroma is your typical Macro Light Lager with some grain, corn and maybe just a hint of hops.

T- The taste like the aroma starts out with some grains which makes up most of the taste. The finish has just the faintest hint of hops. Not much else to speak of.

M- The mouthfeel is light bodied with a high amount of carbonation.

D- Overall, Red Stripe Light is about what I expected it to be. A pretty typical Macro Light Lager that really doesn't stand out against any other in the style. Not horribe, not great either. Probably wouldn't purchase again.

Almost a finger of head. Clear, (yellow?) almost colorless body.
Strong metallic smell. Not appealing.
Metallic taste too. Really watery. A metallic bitter at the end. Not enjoyable.
Low carbonation. Light body, but not crisp.
Does anyone really drink this for real?

Red Stripe Light brewed by Desnoes & Geddes Limited, with an ABV of 3.60% This brew pours out a nice golden amber color with a small white head. The smell is sweet with grains, malts, and hit of hops. Red Stripe Light has a nice light clean taste. You pick up on grains and malts. The is a nice sweetness in the taste of this brew. The mouthfeel is nice, clean and relishing. There is nothing bad about this brew. Red Stripe Light has a nice balance to it. Desnoes & Geddes Limited did a nice job with this brew. I would buy this brew again. Overall I'm giving Red Stripe Light a solid 4 out 5. Nothing to write home about, but nothing bad. This is a nice drinking brew.

IMO far off from the quality of regular red stripe. Color is almost the same, but red stripe light has almost no head and leaves no lacing whatsoever. Looks exactly like bmc to me.

Smell is mostly of grains, although it does have a very slight hint of citrusy hop aroma. Taste is pretty much exactly the same. Almost identical to the american macros, but with a tiny bit more of a hop presence that for me makes it slightly more enjoyable. Very light bodied, almost feels like carbonated water.

Poured from a brown 11.2 oz. bottle. Has a pale yellow color with a small head. Smell is of corn and malts. Taste is crisp, some grains, a tad more flavor than other light beers. Feels light in the mouth and has good drinkability. Overall not the worst light beer I have had, but nothing great.

From the 11.2 fl. oz. stubby bottle. Sampled on December 28, 2010. The pour is straw yellow with busy carbonation leading up to a one-inch fizzy white head that simmers down after a bit. The aroma pulls together grass and malts with a hint of hoppiness and accompanying adjuncts. The bidy is thin to medium which is not unusual with a light beer. The taste is also grassy and malty. For a light beer it is fairly drinkable.

Poured from an 11.2 oz grenade bottle, into a highball glass.

Pale gold with fizzy carbonation. Feeble head of foam, fades relatively fast leaving random spottiness around the edges.

Faint aroma of wet barley, apple, and sweet corn.

Taste is pretty basic and utilitarian, wet grain and mild sweetness suggesting apple and corn again. Feels fizzy, yet dry and clean. Super easy to drink without thinking about it. Pretty average lager with no off flavors.

Pours a very light looking pale straw colour with a decent-ish sized white frothy head that expectedly leaves no mark on the glass.

The aroma is light and sweet with some hints of malt being the only real noticeable characteristics. Still, there was nothing to really complain about here save for the faintness.

The flavour is, quite simply and non-surprisingly, a lighter version of the standard Red Stripe Lager. Sweetness is again the leader here, with some faint, faint fruit notes and a hint of general malt in the mix. Mouthfeel is light as can be and crisp and very refreshing.

To my surprise, I like this one. It's a light beer from Jamaica, so it's exactly what you'll expect and is a nice thirst quencher for those hot Jamaican afternoons.

Red Stripe Light has a very thin, white head and a clear, golden appearance with streaming bubbles and almost no lacing. The aroma is of sweet barley, paper, and a slight spiciness. Taste is of sweet biscuit, paper, a touch of hops, and water. Mouthfeel is light and watery, and Red Stripe Light finishes crisp, refreshing, and dry. Overall, this is a better-than-average light beer.

23 Jan 2013 and our ship docked at Montego Bay: we hit Doctor Cave Beach for the day. The bar there had small (275ml) clear bottles of this beer available, so I had a couple to keep me cool.

The brew is very light in colour, a pale gold I suppose with no head to see (I drank them from the bottle, no glass).

Slight grainy nose, but nothing much.

The taste was leaning towards hoppy and had a semi-bitter dry finish: I found it refreshing and just what I needed at the time. This is not the srot of beer I'd normally buy, but it was sunny, hot and I was in Jamaica!

11.2 oz brown stubby pours a very clear, light yellow color. Has an ample white head that actually sticks around awhile and leaves a decent collar.

Nose is very light, as expected. Brief waft of grains and corn husk. Carbonated water is about the only other thing I get here. Nothing offensive or skunky though.

Clean grains and a high carbonation just about sum this one up. A brief flash of drying bitterness on the finish, but I am not even sure that is from hops. It's thirst quenching and is actually a pretty well brewed lager to be so clean, I dont really detect any flaws here. Not to say I really like it, but I dont dislike the beer.

A- Straw yellow with foamy white head that fades fast and leaves minimal lace.

S- Faint corn, husky, musty smells, tinge of skunk, and mineral water.

T- Faint malts, watered down corn, rice, and musky taste. Earthy hint of hops, and a dose of skunk. Awful.

M- Watery, thin, effervescent, fizzy, and gross

D- Skunky makes it fail on top of thin watery crap beer taste.

Poured from a stubby 11.2oz bottle into a becker pint glass.

A: The beer is a very light gold color, with a very thin white head that fades almost instantly and leaves a very thin lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains pungent light malts, adjuncts and a very faint touch of hops.

T: The taste starts out with a mild light malt sweetness, followed by some adjunct breadiness. The hops presence is almost non-existent even for the style. The after-taste is slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and a little smooth, light body, medium carbonation, finish is clean.

O: Not very flavorful, goes down easily since there isn’t much to the beer, likewise not filling at all, extremely mild kick, decent representation of style, there are definitely other beers in the style that I would choose first.

Pours a clear, straw yellow color with about one finger of fluffy white head with decent retention.

The scent is of sweet corn and buttery notes.

The taste is very light, corn and light grain is most consistent, some notes of hops.

Light body, thin and crisp, high carbonation.

Overall, not really for me but pretty average for the style.

Pours a clean pale yellow with a white head. In the aroma, quite lager like and a sweet buttery smell. In the taste, A small sweet note of butter, but really a lack of flavor. A small bite and a medium to lighter bodied mouthfeel, with a note of dryness and quite clean aftertaste. So no flavor or aftertaste, but a little buttery note, HOORAY, BEER!

Served in a Chicago Bears shaker pint glass.

Not sure why, but I felt compelled to try this tonight. It pours a clear pale straw topped by a finger of lightly dirty-white foam. The nose is nearly nonexistent, with only a vague powdered-sugar-like sweetness and a mild cornmeal finding their ways to my 'strils. The taste holds notes of hard water, rocks, very light and vague vegetable matter, and a tiny touch of sweetness. Man, this stuff is more like weird-tasting water than a beer. The body is pretty damn light, with a light moderate carbonation and an unsurprisingly watery feel. Overall, a pretty sad beer. ...I got nuthin else...

A: The pour is a straw yellow color with a fluffy white head that dies down to a thin layer of foam.

S: A surprisingly malty aroma without quite as much in the way of corn or rice as most light lagers. A hint of skunk, but otherwise just fairly sweet and light with a hint of bread.

T: Decent flavor, but a bit unimpressive (not shocking, though). Lightly sweet grain with a hint of corn and a light bitterness. This one is actually fairly dry.

M: The body is, of course, light with a lively carbonation that pricks the tongue.

D: If you're going to drink a light lager, this might actually not be an awful way to go. By no means amazing, but there are definitely worse options.
