All I can say is WOW! This is a seriously amazing beer! Firestone has really outdone themselves. This is made from some of my favorites from FW; Stickee Monkey and Parabola are among the best barleywines and stouts respectively on the planet, and combined with several other amazing brews, it all comes together in one amazing beer. Pours a rusty brown, very transparent with a thin white head with little to no retention. Not surprising that there is little head as there is not much carbonation. Appearance was definitely the weak point; just nothing too exciting to look at. Smell is huge canvas of milk chocolate, vanilla, mocha, cherries, raisins, , and of course some bourbon (probably thanks to the DDBA). There is a hint of boozeyness when it gets a little warmer, but not terribly so. Taste is simply stunning, as damn near perfect as I can remember.Caramel, toffee, mocha, hazelnut, macadamia, banana some tobacco earthiness and some brown sugar sweetness. Feel is surprisingly drinkable, an area I feel XVI did not perform as well in. XVII still has some syrupy sweetnes, but it's medium body and silky carbonation make it go down easy. You can feel only a touch of booze in the mouth, but it starts to burn like hot fire once it's in the belly. Overall, I am absolutely in love with this beer, and I think it now ranks as my favorite out of the Firestone brewery.
