Had this on tap at Hungry Monk in Chandler. Then I had a Two Hearted Ale to see if I wasn't tasting this beer. I guess I was disappointed in this beer from Firestone Walker.

A: Poured a golden, yellow, amber color. The head dissipates quickly to leave just a soapy film on the top of my glass. A little lacing is present.

S: Smells great. Some tropical fruits like pineapple and papaya along with orange and some grass.

T: Taste of lemon grass and grapefruit are moderately present. A little pine, also. I don't taste anything that really comes off as an IPA. Tastes are moderate and muted. What is missing is any pine resin taste: although this beer comes off a little bitter or maybe crisp.

M: Light-bodied and medium-bodied. It finishes watery and the more I drink it; the more I notice it is just missing something because it finishes like water.

O: I tried to rate this as a light beer and a session beer so the overall score I gave is just a little better than ok. Maybe if it was more carbonated or finished a little stronger; then I could be more satisfied. I guess this is not my idea of a session beer because I wouldn't want to drink it all day long. One was ok and really better than ok. I guess I would rather have a Hefeweizen for a session beer and have more flavor and about the same ABV.

Consumed 8/23/14

A: Honey colored with some orange and gold - pours with a small, white head, fades to a small cap, leaves some decent streaks of lacing

S: Very nice, above average for a session IPA - bright citrus hop profile with orange, tangerine, and some grapefruit flesh - some zest and floral citrus - low sweetness, very pale malts, very light overall

T: Hop soda - nice hoppy flavors match up with the aroma - tangerine, orange, and grapefruit - medium level of bitterness - maybe some melon, too - somewhat juicy, very bright - extremely pale, lightly bready malts, virtually no sweetness

M: Light body, nicely carbonated, extremely easy to drink

O: Being this good is not easy

This is the best "session" IPA I've had. As usual, it's not fair to compare it to a "real" IPA, but it's remarkable for what it is. If Firestone Walker puts this in cans, I would probably keep this stocked all summer.

Pale yellow with a fluffy white foam head. Bread, oranges, and herbal in the nose. Light-bodied, grapefruit, citric, grassy, tannic, orange rinds with a dry, mineral finish. Packed with flavor and extremely drinkable.

A very solid session beer for those looking for light and hoppy.

12 oz bottle. Pours clear straw yellow with a medium creamy white head that goes to a thin film, leaves a little lacing and then almost disappears.

The aroma is very subdued - slightly vegetative, piney, resiny hops.

The flavor is sweet bready malts with some spicy, peppery, piney hops. The mouthfeel is light bodied and a bit watery.

Overall, an OK blandish session IPA. There's almost no nose, it's pretty thin, the flavors are OK but it's a bit on the sweet side.

Appearance: 1 inch head, gold in color, high carbonation, clear

Smell: tangerines and tropical fruits

Taste: tangerine, toasted malt, orange, light grapefruit and pine

Mouthfeel: slightly bitter, light bodied with high carbonation

Overall: A nice, citrusy and light IPA. I like other beers from Firestone Walker better, but if I am looking for a nice IPA to sip, I will reach for this.
