Appearance: Pours with a three fingered head capping the hazy bronze liquid; pretty good retention with a smattering of lace
Smell: Funky and oaky, with apricot, guava, cinnamon and vanilla tones
Taste: Lactic apricot, cinnamon and guava forward, with an acetic element building; in the middle, the Bretty funk arrives, bringing the barnyard along with oak and vanilla; some underlying caramel sweetness peeks through but it is dominated by the oak and acetic aspect
Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate to high carbonation; puckery
Overall: Lots of complexity here and while the overall effect does not thrill me, the beer is a delight to unpack

Palate Contaminants: other beer
Well, let's see how it held up. I only bought it a year ago.
Look is a medium-dark amber with little head and no lacing. Not totally clear, but not opaque, either.
The scent is only slightly funky, leaving plenty of room for other stuff. Candy sweet, with a little fresh cilantro for some sort of mentholating effect. A little melon and a little berry, too.
Taste is way heavier than the smell. Lots of desiccated fruit, but nothing really stands out – banana, but not; raisins, but not; apples, okay, definitely apples – plus it's a little bitter. It's also deceptively sweet. The bitter goes away quickly, and the sour hangs around at a reasonable level. As it warms up, the apples really start to stand out.
The feel is more carbonated than I expected, with plenty of prickliness. It's rich, but that alone won't drive the grade. Aftertaste is mostly the fruit.
