Re-review! 12 oz bottle into a pint glass.
A: Pours a crystal-clear amber color. The head is a creamy off-white shade that's about one finger high. While retention isn't fantastic, it leaves behind a great deal of lacing. Just a beautiful IPA regardless.
S: This is exactly what I expect from a west-coast IPA: lots of grapefruit-forward hops, backed by lesser notes of pine, black pepper, and perhaps even some marijuana. The malts become more evident as it warms up, providing an earthy, caramel-esque background.
T: Hops mostly cluster on the opening, providing not only grapefruit, but also peach, black pepper, and pine. The malt sweetness arrives in the second half of the flavor profile, loaded with caramel, toffee, and earth. A really good IPA, even if the bottle is a couple months old.
M: It starts off beautifully light and crisp...only for the sweetness to nudge itself in with a syrupy linger on the back end. This hurts the effect that the brew was going for; however, it's still stupidly drinkable for 7.5%. Dangerous, even.
O: This is probably one of the better 6-pack IPAs on the market right now. And it would be even greater if it were fresh. I could see this one being a regular in my fridge regardless, though.
