Good initial head, but I'm really impressed with the blanket of lace that remains long after the brew is gone. The color is a neutral gold. Crystal clear.

Prickly to the nose with white pepper and evergreen. Very clean and inviting. The hop is strongest but it is spot on in intensity.

Smooth initial feel to the body. Good carbonation. The flavor begins with a strong, nearly dry, pale malt. No grassiness at all. The bitterness is strong enough to punch through but it isn't extreme by any means. The aftertaste is actually a blend of the two--the hop features the white pepper bite noted in the smell.

Overall, this is perhaps the finest American Pale Ale I've ever tasted. It belongs to pantheon of great APAs--Sierra Nevada, Stone and Fresh Hop from Great Divide.

Bottle to hfs sniffer

A: golden amber color but totally translucent with a 1cm white head that stays in a ring around the edge

S: lots of fruity smell melon to oranges I can't really discribe the other smell but its good

T: you can taste that melon flavor from the nose in background the main taste the main taste is malty but not overpowering definitely not hoppy but not bad either

M: thin and very light and crisp especially for an ipa but easy to drink and not too oily

O: I usually don't like malt forward ipas but this one is pretty good nothing to special but real solid and easy to drink

On Tap at Dinosaur BBQ Syracuse NY for 6$

Appearance - Clear copper colour with a large size beige coloured head. There is a low amount of carbonation showing and there is some great lacing. The head lasted for over 5 minutes.

Smell - Malts, caramel, hops, grapefruit, tangerines

Taste & Mouth - There is an average amount of carbonation and I can taste caramel and malts mixed with hops. There is also some grapefruit/tangerines mixed with some notes of pineapple. It ends with a sweet aftertaste with a good amount of lingering hop bitterness.

Overall – Love this beer.. I had it side by side with Double Jack and preferred it. It has more of a sharp citrus/hop flavour to it. Happy to have had the chance to try them both on tap.

before I say a word, let's disclose I've sampled many dozens of these. But for the sake of creating a proper review...

Poured from their 12 oz bottle into a pint at home.

A: looks as good as any craft ipa with a pedigree. certainly won't slow me down from grabbing it!

S: must be their hop mixture, because this is a familiar great smelling beer common in the west coast ipas.

T: At 7.5%, a beer that tastes this good can be hazardous to one's health (and marriage). All taste is a matter of, well, taste, but this beer strikes a perfect balance of up front citrus hops and quick clean finish. So refreshing, a true 12-month beer.

M: carbonation just right. never gave a it a thought until right now. awfully chuggable!

O: This beer is part of a new generation of craft ipas that border on 2xipa status but go down like a session beer. fellow hopheads, be warned, your sessions shall be short should you get sucked into this beer as a regular as I have! If you can find it at your store fresh (less than 3 months old) go for the case, it is a winner.

Poured from their 12oz bottle...

Appearance - Pours a finger of eggshell head, body is a translucent golden straw, left some very nice wide webbed lacing after the session.

Smell - Pungent fresh greeen hops, citrus smells of grapefruit, and under-ripe pineapple.

Taste - Wow, really bright citrus, pineapple and a touch of tropical. These are balanced so nicely and quite complex, and there is a perfect balancing sweetness that seems to come naturally from the citrus, vs. a candy or carmel flavor. The finish is citrus zest and pith, with tiny pockets of fruit sweetness in the mouth corners. Really tasty!

Mouthfeel - Almost medium, very smooth, so drinkable, carb is nearly medium but absolutely smooth, no edges. Really perfect for this style.

Overall - What a delicious and great IPA - this would be a mainstay in my fridge if it were more readily available in my area. A must try - really wish I had a few more of these!
