22 oz boxed bottle poured into a snifter.
12.5% ABV, 27°P O.G., 42 IBUs, 3000 Cases, 4.7°P F.G., 36 SRM, 2012, No. 002, Bottled on: [Missing].
Major thanks to Thorpe429 for this beer!
A - Strong alcohol keeps the light khaki head from sticking around long but it leaves light clingy lace on the glass. Deep chestnut mahogany brown in color, §ucaba pours very clear.
S - Deep, rich maltiness floods the aroma with sweet caramel cube, milk chocolate, and toasted bread. Very mellow, smooth, but warm alcohol blends with complex undertones of dark fruit esters; raisin and fig. Earthy hops provide a nice balance through the finish.
T - Malt heavy, the sweet caramel blends perfectly with the chocolate flavor for a mouth-watering treat! Fruit esters remain in play as the soothing alcohol finishes out.
M - Soft as velvet, this smooth-drinking barleywine has an exceptional feel that is malt-heavy but still balanced and finishes with a warming, mellow alcohol presence that seems faint for how strong it really is.
O - Deep, complex, and balanced superbly, this barleywine showcases the wonderful malt and warm alcohol attributes without ever pushing the limits. §ucaba is world-class.

A - Pours a rich, red-tinged black with a small white head. Minor lacing and retention.
S - Nice scent bringing lot of barley wine and barrel elements with other notes of goodness. Dark fruits come through the most, along with caramel, chocolate, bourbon, oak, light tobacco and alcohol.
T - Tons of maple and vanilla, a bit nutty, very similar to smell, some sips had some alcohol in the back of the nose
M - Surprisingly smooth. Packs a punch but in all the right ways.
O - An amazing barleywine and another amazing beer from Firestone. This to me is the second best barleywine behind King Henry right now. Glad I have a few extra bottles.

2011 reserve series in a brandy snifter.
Alcohol notes overwhelm the senses from the get-go. Like a fine brandy only better.
This is why I now prefer beer to other alcohol choices.
Mouthfeel and aftertaste leave a very pleasant taste and feel that makes each sip a joy to behold.
Life is good when one of these are at hand.

Poured into a large snifter after about 20 minutes out of the ice bucket. Deep reddish brown with a fair amount of tan, creamy head. Good lacing, and the collar was thick at the edge of the glass. Aroma of toffee, caramel, some woody earthiness, sweet medium roasted malt too. Taste is of toffee/caramel, leather, woody-earthy, very lightly smokey (perhaps because of the campfire). So damn good. Mouthfeel is all that barleywines should be. Appropriately carbonated, medium creamy body. I could drink this til the cows come home; too bad I have to trade for it.
