Poured from a 22 oz bottle into a snifter. Acquired in a trade from spambum, thanks buddy! 2013 vintage.
A- Pours a rust colored body with a very small head that reduces quickly to a white ring. Dark and nearly opaque, can't tell if it's hazy but I think it is.
S- French vanilla coffee, bourbon, toffee, vanilla beans, butterscotch candy, white chocolate. Definitely smells like a dessert beer. Very nice.
T- Upfront there are sweet caramel, vanilla, bourbon notes. This develops into coffee and dark fruit notes, finishing slightly roasty. Warming booze definitely present. The aftertaste is amazing, toasted malt and vanilla cake.
M- Low carbonation, medium-heavy body. Split this one.
I've waited a long time to try Sucaba and it didn't let me down! This is such a complex brew, and the bourbon really stands out and makes a grand presence. It's a heavier version of Founders Backwoods Bastard in my opinion, and that's one of my favorite beers.

A - Pours a rich, red-tinged black with a small white head. Minor lacing and retention.
S - Nice scent bringing lot of barley wine and barrel elements with other notes of goodness. Dark fruits come through the most, along with caramel, chocolate, bourbon, oak, light tobacco and alcohol.
T - Tons of maple and vanilla, a bit nutty, very similar to smell, some sips had some alcohol in the back of the nose
M - Surprisingly smooth. Packs a punch but in all the right ways.
O - An amazing barleywine and another amazing beer from Firestone. This to me is the second best barleywine behind King Henry right now. Glad I have a few extra bottles.

2011 reserve series in a brandy snifter.
Alcohol notes overwhelm the senses from the get-go. Like a fine brandy only better.
This is why I now prefer beer to other alcohol choices.
Mouthfeel and aftertaste leave a very pleasant taste and feel that makes each sip a joy to behold.
Life is good when one of these are at hand.

Poured into a large snifter after about 20 minutes out of the ice bucket. Deep reddish brown with a fair amount of tan, creamy head. Good lacing, and the collar was thick at the edge of the glass. Aroma of toffee, caramel, some woody earthiness, sweet medium roasted malt too. Taste is of toffee/caramel, leather, woody-earthy, very lightly smokey (perhaps because of the campfire). So damn good. Mouthfeel is all that barleywines should be. Appropriately carbonated, medium creamy body. I could drink this til the cows come home; too bad I have to trade for it.
