2012 Batch 2 in a Bruery Tulip
Wow, I have loved this one for years. Finally a review.
The nose comes to me carrying a figgy malt sweetness. With a vigorous pour I get a dark avacado honey hue and a frothy head that quickly dissipates to a thin diminutive patchy layer of foam.
Wow, I still get a hint of fig, more of a dried fig. A bit of molasses and slight hints of, is that bourbon. I don't remember that from the last time- BONUS! I have enjoyed this barleywine so many times in the past, and I shouldn't be surprised that each time it brings something different.
Lite and slightly slick on the mouthfeel. Don't get me wrong, it's full enough. But while I love a chewy Imperial Stout, I desire a barleywine that's full enough to respect, but not to chew.
Never disappointed with Abacus, er uh Sucaba.
