Served in a mug, there's a short-statured and short-lived light, frothy head, off white. Color is a very dark brown.
Smells of sweet cocoa, and as it warms up some roasted malts begin to peak out a bit.
The taste surprised me: roasty roast roasty. Delicious coffee tones take the show, contrasting the subtlety in the nose. Man on man this is nice. This time the chocolate malt takes a back seat. A pleasant aftertaste lingers and makes me really eager to take the next sip.
Mouthfeel does this beer well. Not watered down, not overly thick for the style, just right. Feels nice the entire way down.
This is a great beer. I've been wanting to try this for a while now. I'm kind of perplexed by the sweet smell and roasted body makeup. At first whiff I was certain it was going to be on the sweet side. Not so fast, mister, this one's a winner.
