A - Pours a coppery brown, it really does look like a slightly darker version of their standard DBA. Slight tan head quickly gives way to a surprisingly steady stream of champagne-like bubbles. Very little lacing.
S - Yep, this smells like a barleywine. Lots of overripe fruit, caramel malts, and an overwhelming whiff of alcohol. This does not smell like a Double DBA, it smells much more like Abacus / Sucuba.
T - Surprisingly it's a very different taste than what the smell would lead you to expect. Definitely a barleywine-type taste, but much more caramel and the slightest hint of floral hop. The alcohol bite present on the nose is very subdued here. It comes through a bit as heat on the finish, but overall they did a great job of balancing the high ABV and impressive malt bill to create something very drinkable.
M - Thin. It has an almost identical mouthfeel to the standard DBA. Overly carbonated and doesn't really leave a presence. I expected something a little more viscous and chewy. Disappointing.
O - Overall, it's not a bad beer, and a lot of my review is based on expectation and price-point. It's a good beer, but for the style and the $15+ pricetag you can do a lot better.

This ale was amazing and it will get better with age.
Appearance: Poured a lovely muted orange/amber in hue. Slight bottle conditioning added to a mild cloudiness as the bottle was emptied.
Aroma: was floral booze, bourbon, caramel, soft dark fruits and slight smoky tones.
Taste: Sweet Caramel, Burnt Brown Sugars Touch of Raisins and lovely floral boozy notes.
Earthy woody hops add to the ale with a playful bitterness.
Body: It was soft and smooth, only a hint of a sticky sweetness remained, they abv and hops dried it out a touch at the end.
Overall a wonderful ale, that I know will be even better with age, I hope to track down another bottle soon. Cheers!
