I've been hearing about this one for a long time, so I was excited to find it at my local store. 22oz. poured into a tulip glass.
A - Pours a vibrant and hazy golden orange, but not very dark orange as I have read. There is a good two fingers of creamy white head in top, with good retention and super sticky lacing. Appears to be well carbonated.
S - Very piney and earthy but with plenty of citrus notes, mainly grapefruit. Perhaps a little pear as well, with a dry musky end.
T - I cannot believe how well hidden the alcohol is in this beer, right off the bat. It tastes very fruity and fresh but also complex. There is distinct green apple and pear in the flavor, as well as plenty of grapefruit. Slight bitter and piney in the finish, which is dry and earthy. The fruit flavors in this IPA are so punchy and fresh tasting that they really stand out.
M - Only somewhat oily but not overly so. Light mouthfeel for such an explosively flavorful beer. Crisp and well carbonated.
O - An excellent double IPA that is well worth trying if you are into the hopbomb kind of beers as I am. Definitely stands out among the pack of double IPAs I have sampled in the past few months.
